The average cost of full-coverage car insurance reached $2,543 in 2024, up 26% in a single year, Bankrate reports.

Uninsured drivers have increased to a national average of 14%, that’s 1 out of 7 drivers on the road DO NOT have any insurance.

The cost of car insurance has recently increased throughout the U.S. to reach a national average of $2,543 in 2024, with the New York City-based consumer financial services company calculating that it shot up by 26 percent over the last year alone. Florida is currently where drivers are paying the highest cost for their car insurance, at an average annual premium of $3,945, according to Bankrate.

The most asked question that I have gotten in the last 2 years is, "Why have my rates gone up? I didn't file a claim!"
As a consumer, I completely understand the frustration - my rates went up too. The Insurance Industry had some real instability in '22 and '23. Like the stock market, when instability creeps in, it can be devastating. Claims across the board are up, way up. On top of that, there are more people on the roads and more people owning property. On top of that, the inflation factor for materials and, more importantly, labor are also way up. Review the chart below, especially that two columns on the right. No carrier is in the clear, I don't care what funny commercial we see on TV. Slight bit of good news to end this post... most carriers are forecasting stability for late /24 and in to '25. Let's all hope!
