Scotland, here we come!!! 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 Our latest short film FLORENCE IS FOR LOVERS is having its international premiere at Alchemy and Moving Image Festival ()! We couldn’t be happier to be to be attending such an incredible fest in a place so dear to us (did you know they even host a festival cèilidh?!?)

UK friends, come on up/down to Hawick on May 2nd and say howdy! 🤠

We’re included in a program of eight films that survey myths and monsters, anxiety and trauma, in relation to land, place, identity and the seasons. The program was curated april forrest lin 林森, who writes, “In Florence is for Lovers by Lily Ekimian Ragheb and Ahmed Ragheb, text-to-speech translations and Hi8 tape configure an uncanny travel vlog to the eponymous city. Structured through reticent responses to a persistent stranger, this docu-fiction is an ode to place complete with morbid anecdotes and handheld close-ups.”

Another week another recap! ✨ This round of movie picks includes:
🎬 The best political protest movie we’ve seen in a long time
🎬 A candid-cam documentary about ‘60s Holland
🎬 An Italian mafia movie almost a decade before The Godfather
🎬 A surrealist Palestinian movie about ways of seeing

(Every Sunday we watch four movies neither of us has seen and sometimes we share them here so stay tuned for more of our ramblings 💫)

📣 We’re beyond thrilled to be announcing our latest short film FLORENCE IS FOR LOVERS, which will be premiering at next month!! We adore this fest and are so honored to be back!

If you’re free on April 14th and fancy a trip to the best Athens west of the Atlantic, join us for our world premiere!

🎬 FLORENCE IS FOR LOVERS: A fragmented encounter on a Tuscan train leads to an unsettling meditation on intimacy, violence, and communication in this part-travelogue, part-city symphony. This experimental docu-fiction short takes the nostalgia of Hi8 tape and the emotional distance of text-to-voice translation to create a new kind of travel film.
