๐ Two Years of Strength, Pride, and Community! ๐
On May 25, 2024, Phoenix Fitness Gym opened its doors with a mission: to create a safe, affirming space where trans, non-binary, and gender-diverse individuals could pursue their fitness goals without fear or judgment. Two years later, we've built more than a gymโwe've built a community. ๐ช๐ณ๏ธโโง๏ธ
At Persad Center, we understand that wellness is multifaceted. That's why we offer a range of trans-affirming services, including mental health counseling, support groups, and substance use treatment, all designed to support you in every aspect of your journey.
We are proud to celebrate this milestone as we continue to uplift and empower our Transgender and Gender Non-Conforming community.

Today, the cast of City Theatre's Hedwig and the Angry Inch paid a visit with our Persad OWLS. Treasure Treasure (Hedwig) and Theo Allyn (Yitzhak), shared stories about stepping into these unforgettable characters and exploring the showโs themes of identity, resilience, belonging, and self-expression.
The conversation, facilitated by our own Ted Hoover, was thoughtful, heartfelt, and full of laughs. It was a reminder of how theater creates connection across generations and experiences.
Thank you to City Theatre and the cast for a wonderful partnership and for joining us for a visit! ๐ญ๐

๐ Love didnโt wait. It showed up โ fully, unapologetically, and in front of the world.
When openly gay leader Dominik Krause celebrated his win as Munichโs mayor with a kiss to his fiancรฉ, it wasnโt just a beautiful moment. it was a reminder that authenticity isnโt something to hide on the sidelines. It belongs at the center of our lives, our leadership, and our victories.
For so many LGBTQ+ people, being seen has never been simple. It can come with fear, hesitation, or the weight of wondering if itโs safe to exist out loud. And yet, moments like this remind us whatโs possible when people are supported, affirmed, and allowed to show up as their full selves.
At Persad Center, we see every day how powerful that support can be. When someone feels safe enough to be honest about who they are, everything begins to shift โ confidence grows, connection deepens, and healing becomes possible.
Because visibility isnโt just about being seen.
Itโs about being held, supported, and celebrated โ exactly as you are. ๐๐ณ๏ธโ๐
If youโre looking for that kind of space, weโre here for you.

The Persad Outreach Team had an amazing time today at the Pittsburgh Public Schools Gender Inclusive Schools Summit at Chatham University! ๐ณ๏ธโ๐๐ณ๏ธโโง๏ธ
We loved connecting with the students and faculty, sharing resources, and handing out Persad stickers and Pride wristbands. The event was capped off by a Pride parade with each school having a colorful contingent of students.
Thank you to all the students, staff, and organizers who made this event so welcoming and inspiring.

Mayor Corey O'Connor visits Persad & is named Honorary Member of the OWLS!
This week, the Persad OWLS had a great surprise when Mayor Corey O'Connor stopped by to chat with the group. Mayor O'Connor has always been a steadfast supporter of the LGBTQ+ community and was excited to meet everyone while sharing updates on the many important initiatives heโs working on for the city.
From affordable housing and downtown revitalization to environmental and climate accountability and creating a more accessible and transparent local government, the OWLS appreciated the opportunity to hear firsthand and ask questions about the Mayorโs vision for a stronger, more inclusive Pittsburgh for all.

๐ Healing Begins When You Feel Safe to Be Yourself ๐
For many in the LGBTQ+ community, the journey to healing often begins with one simple yet powerful thing: safety. Safety to express your identity without fear, to confront past traumas, and to find the space to heal.
Morgan's journey with Persad Center is just one of many stories where individuals find a safe place to heal from PTSD, embrace their true selves, and learn to live fully and proudly. When Morgan walked through our doors, they were met with more than just therapy โ they found a community that understood, affirmed, and empowered them. ๐
Healing isnโt a destination, itโs a journey. And at Persad Center, weโre honored to walk alongside you every step of the way.
If you're struggling, know that you're not alone. Whether you're exploring your gender identity, dealing with trauma, or simply need a supportive space, we are here for YOU. ๐ช
Because everyone deserves to feel whole. Everyone deserves to heal. ๐
