Brown Bag Bonanza is back Friday, June 26, and this thing has fully become one of our favorite nights at Doctorbird.

We’ll pull together a mystery lineup of bottles from reps, friends, our own stash, and whatever other interesting corners of the wine world come knocking. Then we’ll brown-bag them, taste together, make our best guesses, reveal the bottles, and see who was brilliant, lucky, deeply confident, or wonderfully wrong.

It’s part blind tasting, part wine hang, part group therapy for people who have ever said “I’m definitely getting Pinot” and then been personally betrayed by Syrah.

The best part is the room: ten people gathered around one long live-edge plank of wood, tasting, laughing, talking, and getting just the right amount of humbled.

Seats are limited to ten. Grab your ticket at the Link in Bio before the bags are full.

Happy Father’s Day from Doctorbird.

We’re closed today so we can spend time with family and celebrate the dads, grandpas, uncles, bonus dads, steady hands, patient teachers, joke-repeaters, grill-tenders, and general problem-solvers who keep the world from fully wobbling off its axis.

We’ll be back at it next week. Hug your people, call your dad if you can, and maybe let him tell the same story again. It’s his day.

Take Doctorbird Home.

For the last several weeks, we’ve been reminding people of something that maybe got a little hidden behind the glasses, flights, events, and lovely neighborhood chaos:

Doctorbird is a wine shop.
A real one.

The shelves have been busy. The bottles have been good. And if you need something to bring to dinner, open on the porch, give to a host, save for a better night, or drink because Tuesday got ambitious, we can help.

A few strong bottles still worth your attention:

Severina Alta Langa Extra Brut 2021, Matteo Correggia
Elegant, dry sparkling wine with enough polish for a celebration and enough nerve for oysters, fries, or a very good snack dinner.

Mencía Silvaspoons Vineyard 2023, NoneSuch Wines
A California-grown Mencía with dark fruit, pepper, and a little wild edge. For the curious red wine drinker who doesn’t want the usual script.

Ettore Rosso 2018, Ettore
A deeper, dinner-ready red with a little age, a little grip, and a lot of “yes, this belongs on the table.”

Stop by this week and bring Doctorbird home.

House Pick: the fast mover.

Some bottles need a long explanation. This one mostly needs a warning label.
We brought the 2024 Anthos Dry Brachetto from Matteo Correggia in for our Meet the Winemaker event with Giovanni Correggia, and the entire case sold that day.

Now it’s back.

Dry Brachetto is one of those wines that catches people off guard in the best way: aromatic, lifted, red-fruited, super floral, fresh, and wildly easy to enjoy. It has charm without being unserious – a dangerous little combination.

Consider this your insider nudge: this one already proved it can move.

Stop by this week and bring Doctorbird home.

Trivia Night is tomorrow, and this month’s rounds are looking dangerous in the best way.

We’re talking:

🌍 Global Geography
📜 Global History
🧪 High School Science Class: Science or Fiction?
📺 TV Theme Songs audio round
❓ How Did That Get Its Name?

Maps, empires, fake science facts, theme song nostalgia, and the weird little origin stories behind names like LEGO, Bluetooth, QWERTY, Nike, and more.

We’ll also be showing the Mexico vs South Korea World Cup match, so come early, grab a drink, claim a table, and settle in.

And if you show up “just for the game,” fair warning: we may hand you a pencil and make you play trivia too. That’s not coercion. That’s community.

Trivia starts at 7pm. Bring your team.

New to the Nest.

The shelves have been moving, which means a few very good new arrivals have landed.

Three bottles worth noticing this week:

Muscadet Sèvre et Maine Sur Lie 2024, Domaine de la Grenaudière
For the crisp-white drinker who wants something clean, mineral, and quietly brilliant with seafood, sunshine, or a plate of salty snacks.

Litrotto Rosso 2022, L’Archetipo
For the “I just want something delicious” red wine person. Juicy, savory, easy to love, and exactly the kind of bottle that disappears faster than expected.

Teroldego 2020, Bonifacia Wines
For the red drinker looking for something with a little more depth and character. Dark-fruited, earthy, and ready for dinner that has actual plans.

This is the whole point of the shelves: new things, useful things, bottles with a reason to be here.

Stop by this week and bring Doctorbird home.

Trivia Night is back Thursday, June 18, and this month we’re leaning hard into the good stuff: fun rounds, good questions, lively teams, and nothing so impossible that everyone stares into the middle distance reconsidering their education.

We’ve got some new round ideas in the works, and the goal is simple: keep it smart, keep it moving, and keep the room buzzing.

Bring your team of 2–6, or come solo and we’ll help you find one. Drinks and snacks start at 6:30, trivia kicks off at 7.

Trivia is free. Bragging rights are priceless and, frankly, dangerous in the wrong hands.

Come play.

Shelf Spotlight: two bottles, two comfort zones.

Some people walk into a wine shop wanting something familiar, delicious, and easy to love.

Some people walk in and say, “What’s the weird little thing I don’t know yet?”

Beautiful. We have shelves for both of you.

For the curious drinker:
2023 Saboteur White Blend from Luddite Wines in South Africa. Crisp, textured, and a little unexpected in the best way.

For the comfort-zone drinker:
2024 Firebird Chardonnay from Novak & Mason Cellars. Generous, polished, and familiar without being boring. Bonus points: this is another tiny producer, and one of the partners is even in our wine club.

This week’s Take-Home Pairing Perk:
Buy any two featured bottles and save 10%.
Wine Club members save 15%.

Bring home one bottle that feels like you, and one bottle that nudges you slightly out of your lane. Growth, but make it delicious.

Doctorbird Sports Bar is back for one night only. Kind of. We still don’t have TVs everywhere, but we do have the big screen, the World Cup, and USA vs Paraguay kicking off at 6pm tonight.

Come grab a seat, yell responsibly, and watch the match with the best beer selection in Pittsburg, a fresh new wines-by-the-glass list, and plenty of snackable goodness to keep you fueled from kickoff to final whistle.

This is the kind of match that deserves more than your couch.
Game on at Doctorbird.

Start your weekend at Doctorbird.

Every Friday, we’re taking $4 off flights all day long, whether you want a Mystery Flight chosen by us or a Build Your Own Flight from the by-the-glass list.

It’s the easiest way to try something new, revisit a favorite, or turn “just one glass” into a more educational experience. Very academic. Extremely peer-reviewed.

Come in this Friday, grab a flight, and let the weekend begin properly.
