The bar is on the floor and yet here we are, spiraling.

You are out here doing actual evidence-based airway work and someone with a Theragun attachment thinks they’re your competition.

They are not.

Myofunctional therapy changes the structural function of the orofacial complex. A percussive massage gun is a vibe. These are not the same thing.

Stop competing with the floor. You have a ceiling to raise.

And if you need support /mentorship think of me as your Myo big sis.

A University of Pennsylvania study sponsored by FMCSA and the American Trucking Associations found that almost 28% of commercial truck drivers have mild to severe sleep apnea.

Other studies put the range much higher — OSA prevalence estimates in commercial truck driver studies have ranged from 28% to 78% depending on methodology. PubMed Central
Here it is:

The system that’s supposed to protect CDL drivers is the exact reason they stay silent about sleep apnea.

Disclose symptoms → trigger FMCSA compliance → risk your license. So they don’t disclose. Medical examiners don’t push. The airway dysfunction that’s quietly destroying their cardiovascular system stays invisible.

And then we wonder why commercial truck drivers die of ischemic heart disease at 49% higher rates than the general population.

This is not a personal failure. This is a structural one.

Here’s what nobody is saying in this conversation: allied health clinicians — SLPs, RDHs, OTs, PTs, myofunctional therapists — are sitting upstream of all of it. These drivers will come to us for jaw pain, morning headaches, fatigue they’ve normalized. They’re not hiding from us. We are not a compliance mechanism.

We are the intervention point the system missed.

If you work with this population and you’re not screening for airway this is why it matters. Save this. Share it with a colleague who needs to see it.

Seeing Audrey tonight in a room full of weird girls like me, and it’s got me thinking about all the women I work with who have been told their exhaustion and jaw pain are just… life.

They’re not.

Hormones shift how we sleep, how we clench, how our airway behaves. And the way your tongue rests in your mouth affects all of it.

We help with both. And it’s easier than you think to start.

Replying to
Collagen/connective tissue lines our entire system.
EDS and hEDS have problems connected to (no pun intended) the issues in our tissues.

So if an airway isn’t supported from the top , like the tongue isn’t able to rest against the palate and you have a jaw that’s unsupported …. You will have issues with sleep, and jaw pain.

We also have commonalities of :
Narrow jaws , teeth crowding and some subsets of EDS have primarily gum tissue issues.

So I feel strongly that those who have sleep issues are also screened for EDS/hEDS and at least given literature about best practices.

It is frustrating though because this information isn’t widely out there, providers like myself have to research and learn (gasp what a concept) to stay on top of the latest research and reviews on what is best to do with this population.

Then what I see is that women are so mismanaged especially when we get into our late 30s and 40s because everything becomes about our mental health and hormones.

It’s exhausting isn’t it?

In midlife , in motherhood, in business , love and everything else …. It’s you. You are the only one who can truly stop you from getting what you want out of this life.

If that so happens to be learning how to perfect your craft being a myofunctional therapist, I got the street cred, education and personal redemption story to truly advance your approach and outcomes.
Because you can know everything and not know how to relate and connect with people to help them understand the support you need to give them.
You won’t know how to connect the hormonal and hypermobile dots straight outta your intro course.
That’s where I come in.
Work with me , I’d love to see that version of you ✨🤏🦋

The day can be had where you aren’t tired, don’t have a headache and your jaw doesn’t hurt.

Its possible.

Myofunctional therapy should be something that every tired lady should do. Especially going into big hormonal shifts in life (pregnancy, perimenopause).

Easy, non invasive, habits change and so does your life.

I have one on one therapy and a full myofunctional program for women.
