EVOCAVI’S RESEARCH-TO-PRACTICE COLLABORATION WITH THE ARIZONA STATE UNIVERSITY ‘S CHILDREN IN THE LAW LABORATORY
About the Collaboration: All of us at EVOCAVI are excited to announce our next Research-to Practice collaboration with the Arizona State University’s Children in the Law Laboratory. Through this collaboration, we will be conducting the first survey of how professional child forensic interviewers approach the disclosure of evidence to children and adolescents, including when evidence is used, why it is used or withheld, and the perceived impact. Over the last three months, our research team has been conducting one-on-one interviews with child forensic interview experts throughout the U.S. who were willing to share their insights related to disclosing evidence with children. These interviews were invaluable towards informing us about what is currently being trained, common misunderstandings, and gaps within the research. Meet our research team below.

EVOCAVI Trains Korean National Police Agency (KNPA) Profilers in Corroboration-Based Interviewing (CBI)
Since 2023, EVOCAVI’s international training team has trained criminal and workplace investigators in the United Kingdom, Indonesia, India, and, most recently, South Korea. Last week, EVOCAVI provided a course on Corroboration-Based Interviewing (CBI) to criminal profilers from the Korean National Police Agency (KNPA) at the amazing Korean Police Investigation Training Academy.
For four days, the KNPA profilers participated in lectures, instructor-led demonstrations, scenarios, and peer-to-peer evaluations. We were humbled by their interest in learning new tactics and by the noticeable improvement in their interview skills. We are looking forward to continuing their training with our advanced curriculum over the next few weeks.
I would like to acknowledge the efforts by Minhwan Jang Ph.D., assistant professor, Daegu University, and Donggyu Hong, Crime Analyst (Senior Sergent), Forensic Investigation Division, Korean National Police Agency, for their tireless work and persistence to introduce EVOCAVI’s Corroboration-Based Interviewing curriculum as the new standard for the KNPA. Also, this course could not have been made possible without the assistance of three amazing KNPA interpreters, Jinbag Kim, Yihyun Joo, and Yedan Han. They played an invaluable role in making this course such a success.
Finally, I would like to recognize the efforts of EVOCAVI science-advisor, Simon Oleszkiewicz Ph.D., for assisting in our international training courses, participating in the month’s long pre-training prep work, and developing the post-training evaluation survey for the KNPA.
EVOCAVI’s interview training courses are custom designed per client, and we appreciate all the assistance the KNPA staff have provided to ensure our course there was culturally appropriate and consistent with the high values and standards they have set for their investigators. We look forward to our continued collaborations with these KNPA profilers and the rest of their staff!
