🐾🐶🩷Soju's Cancer Journey🩷🐶🐾:
My Labrador Soju was diagnosed with Metastatic Pulmonary Carcinoma (lung cancer) shortly after celebrating his second birthday. He had come home from Service Dog training on 2/21/25 with a slight cough when he got excited, and our vet initially treated him for Kennel Cough. Two weeks into antibiotics we came home to him coughing up bloody mucus around the house and rushed him to the ER. Again they only initially saw severe Pneumonia and started treating that, but after further imaging the next day found 3 tumors in his lungs. After several specialist appointments and two long weeks of waiting to get into the Oncologist we finally had a diagnosis, and a heartbreaking prognosis. Soju was in the end stages of his cancer already. They told me my seemingly healthy, young and full of life boy went from totally fine to only having maybe 90 more days to live. We started weekly Chemotherapy and had an additional 5 weeks with him before his lungs couldn’t handle it anymore and we let him cross the rainbow bridge on 5/2/25. It only took 70 days for my world to turn upside down. In those 70 days we spent over $20,000 in vet bills - and without his Trupanion insurance we would have never gotten the extra time. I hope sharing his story brings more awareness to this heartbreaking disease, and encourages you to invest in insurance as well. It is never you until it is. ~ Emelyn B.

"I’m honored to be able to support the foundation in Ace’s memory" - Felicia

Ace passed away on May 26th after battling cancer. He was diagnosed in late 2025 with a mast cell tumor. We also believe because his cancer also spread to his lungs and spleen that he had hemangiosarcoma as well.

Losing him has been one of the hardest experiences of my life, but I wanted to turn that grief into something meaningful. That’s why I decided to dedicate my upcoming HYROX race to Ace and raise money for the National Canine Cancer Foundation. This race is for him — for his strength, his fight, and the unconditional love he gave every single day. Every mile, every workout, and every dollar raised is in his honor.

My hope is that through this fundraiser, we can help support more research, treatments, and families going through similar experiences so that someday fewer dogs and owners have to endure this kind of loss.

He was more than just a dog — he was family, my best friend, and truly one of the happiest souls I’ve ever known. Ace lived his life full of energy, love, and loyalty. He loved being outside, playing with our other dog Cash, and simply being around the people he loved. No matter what kind of day I was having, Ace had a way of making everything feel better. He brought comfort, joy, and unconditional love into every moment.

When Ace was diagnosed with cancer from that moment on, our lives changed completely. Watching a dog, you love to go through something so difficult is heartbreaking, but throughout the battle, Ace remained incredibly strong. We did everything we could to give him comfort, love, and quality time. Every appointment, every difficult decision, and every extra day with him reminded me how resilient and pure dogs truly are. Even during his hardest days, Ace still found ways to show love and strength."

🐾🐶 My Best Friend 🐶🐾
You are my hero, my Dad, my guide,
I’m always happy by your side.
You give me treats and scratch my ear,
And make me feel so safe right here.
You walk me through the morning sun,
And every little game is fun.
I love the way you rub my chest,
Of all the humans, you’re the best!
Your shoes are great, your voice is kind,
No better partner I could find.
With wagging tail and happy bark,
You are my light out in the dark.
No matter where we go or roam,
With you, my Dad, I am at home.
A loyal friend until the end,
My favorite Dad, my greatest friend.
