We listen for the still-speaking God. Join us for worship on Sundays at 10:30 am MST at 555 W. Glendale Avenue in Phoenix, Arizona, on the southeast corner of 7th Avenue and Glendale. Our Mission:
Church of the Beatitudes is a joyfully inclusive and diverse community that embraces the many differences that come with being human. We believe that all people are made in the loving image of God and we recognize many paths to the Holy. Growing in our spiritual and communal life together, we worship, study, and serve our community. Rooted in our history and tradition, we are a progressive Christian voice in the wider world. We are powerful advocates for social justice in our community. We are a vibrant, inspiring, innovative church in changing times. Church of the Beatitudes affirms that every person has worth as a unique creation made in the image of God. We recognize, celebrate and give thanks for the many diverse gifts of God among us. We declare ourselves to be an Open and Affirming congregation, welcoming into the full life and ministry of the Church persons of every race, culture, age, gender, sexual orientation, ability and economic status. Church of the Beatitudes is a community of faith-keeping and faith-seeking people grounded in stories and truths contained in the scriptures. We are open to insights and interpretations of God revealed to us through new experiences, different faiths and diverse cultures. Our purpose is to provide opportunities for the formation of Christian disciples through worship and spiritual enrichment, to offer the education and training for this discipleship and to encourage the practice of this discipleship in the world. We are an Open and Affirming Congregation. What does it mean to be a progressive Christian community? We are an intentionally inclusive community. We recognize the sacred with in all people, as each one of us is a beloved child of God. As people of faith, we recognize our call to work for justice in our world.Explore the many ways that we seek to serve our world. We recognize that families come in many shapes, sizes, and configurations. We celebrate the ways through which God's love is shared with those we call family. We recognize that we are all on a sacred journey. We commit to travel respectfully and in support of our fellow journeyers. We believe that there are many paths to God including, but not exclusively, through the life and ministry of Jesus Christ.

The Arts Council invites you to an opening reception featuring the exhibit, "Birds, Bees, Butterflies and Other Wild Things". This exhibit will display photography by Connie Pilcher. Come meet Connie in person on Sunday, October 4 at 11:30am in the church narthex. Light refreshments will be served.
Artist Statement:
"I am so excited to be able to share my passion for photography with you. As a retired art/photography teacher, I became interested in birding and the challenges if offers.
As a result, I started adding butterflies and occasional bees. Lately, seeing counts of these species drop dramatically, I became interested in preservation of their environment. Much of our food source is dependent on them, and blindly we are destroying them.
With this show, I want to exhibit not only their beauty but their plight."
Exhibit runs October 4-November 29. Viewing is available on Sundays from 10:00-11:00am and all other days by appointment. Email [email protected] for scheduling information.
All purchases made benefit the artist, Arts Council and the church.

Faith In Action's Annual Thanksgiving Food Drive benefiting NourishPHX will begin October 18 and end November 8. Let's help make this year's drive the best one yet!
Items most needed are:

- stuffing

- mac and cheese
- mashed potatoes

Thank you to our scripture readers and announcers. Every week we rely on volunteers to help with reading scripture and making needed announcements. We appreciate all those that take time out of their week to prepare for Sundays. The dedication goes a long way! Thank you!

Ever wish life had a reset button? You don't have to have it all figured out to come to church. Join us Sunday morning as we gather together—free coffee and a welcoming family are waiting for you!
This coming Sunday, Rev. Sandi Anthony will be leading service and will deliver a sermon titled, "Producing Fruits on Rented Land". The theme to reflect on is: Clinging to anger without offering forgiveness ultimately harms us. Christopher Hughs will be subbing for Andrez and lead us in music.
After service everyone is invited to fellowship hour hosted by CLM in Nelson Hall.
Service begins at 10:30am in the Worship Center.

A recent trip to the Science Center to see the Julia Child exhibit inspired Marilyn to have a gathering to watch the movie, "Julie and Julia". Come join in on Saturday, September 26 in Nelson Hall Lounge for a Morning Movie event! Movie will begin at 9:45am.

Save the Date! Cruisin' Cuisines will head over to Haus Murphy's, 5739 West Glendale, Glendale, Az, on Thursday, October 1 at 5:30pm, for an early Octoberfest dinner. They have great beers, appetizers, schnitzels, and a variety of other German main dishes.

Thinking of doing some Christmas shopping? The aprons and quilts exhibit is still available for viewing and SHOPPING! There are many choices of colorful and patterned aprons, table runners and cosys. A cosy is a holder that protects hot bowls and keeps them warm!
