New podcast episode today!
In church planting, every Sunday is an opportunity to reach both the lifelong believer and the curious skeptic. But how do you bridge that gap without compromising the Gospel or confusing your listeners?
In this episode, Molly Ruch sits down with George Sinclair to talk about preaching in a church plant context. Drawing from decades of ministry, church planting, and teaching preaching, George shares why pastors must listen deeply to Scripture, understand the culture around them, and speak clearly to the real fears, questions, and longings of the human heart.

In this episode, you’ll discover:
- The “Water” Analogy: Why we are often unconscious of our cultural context and how to start seeing it clearly.
- The FACES Framework: A five-point checklist to ensure your preaching is impactful and accessible.
- Beyond the “Christian Bubble”: Why you should preach as if non-Christians are in the room, even when they aren’t.
- Preaching to the Heart: How to identify the “human condition” issues in a text that speak to everyone’s fears and anxieties.
- The Power of Simplicity: Why clarity is your best friend and how to avoid the “fog in the pews”.

Whether you are a new church planter or a seasoned rector, this conversation will challenge you to listen to the Word—and your neighbor—with fresh ears.

George is the Canon for Church Planting for the Diocese of Canada(), rector of Messiah Ottawa(), and principal of Ryle Seminary(). He has been a key leader in the missional endeavors of the Anglican Church in North America for over three decades.

There’s only a few days left to register for our upcoming Residency Builder event on Jan. 20-21 in Phoenix. If you’ve been thinking of registering please do so right away. And if you know of anyone who should be at this important event please share this with them.

We believe facilitating and equipping for residencies and curacies is tremendously important for us as a Province as we seek to cultivate growth and health. Every few years we bring together rectors and churches interested in residencies and curacies, because if we want to plant and grow more churches we need well-prepared leaders, and creating the kind of thoughtful, supportive structures that make these training pathways work takes shared attention and care.
Wherever you are in the Province consider joining us this month in Arizona and register right away!

We remember St. Augustine of Hippo today and give thanks to God for him and his words. May we always go forward in the beautiful work of making disciples, caring for one another and participating in God’s building of his Church.

From the BCP 2019:
Augustine, Bishop of Hippo and Teacher of the Faith, 430
Almighty God, you gave your servant Augustine of Hippo special gifts of grace to understand and teach the truth revealed in Christ Jesus: Grant that by this teaching we may know you, the one true God, and Jesus Christ whom you have sent; who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever.
Amen.
