Outgoing Chair Gene Hawkins gave a beautiful and heartfelt farewell address during the Thursday morning General Session of the 2026 NCUTCD Annual Meeting.

The occasion included the presentation of a plaque commemorating Gene’s years of service as chair, which was presented by newly elected Chair Neil Boudreau.

All in attendance gave the outgoing Chair a standing ovation.

The Technical Committees were hard at work Wednesday and Thursday afternoons at the 2026 NCUTCD Annual Meeting.

On Wednesday afternoon each of the Technical Committees met to continue their great work of reviewing content and preparing proposals to go before Council.

Finishing up Wednesday morning at the NCUTCD Annual Meeting the Bicycle-Signals Multi-Committee Task Force, Signals Pedestrian Control Features Task Force, and Temporary Traffic Control Typical Applications Multi-Committee Task Force each met.

First time attendees and those interested in joining the NCUTCD attended New Member Orientation on Wednesday morning at the Annual Meeting.

Continuing on later Wednesday morning the Connected & Automated Vehicles Joint Task Force, Roundabout Joint Task Force, Rules of the Road Joint Task Force, Bicycle-Rail Multi-Committee Task Force, RW Speed Feedback Sign Task Force, Signals Control Features Task Force, and Temporary Traffic Control Incident Management Task Force each met continuing their great work.

On Wednesday morning the ITE Delegation met at the NCUTCD Annual Meeting and recognized outgoing Chair Gene Hawkins for his service to the organization.
