After a year of fighting with a "builder in Arcadia" Thea is finally getting new siding and brick on her one year old home. The builder attempted to deny there was anything wrong even though the siding was delaminating and moisture / mold was present inside the walls.

After going through the ROC process, his crew tore off the siding and brick THREE TIMES and could not install it in a weather tight manner that met building code. Also all of the windows in the home had to be removed and installed to manufacture's specification.

I helped Thea navigate the process:
*Documented construction defect
*Notified the builder
*Met at least 15 times with the builder
*Tried to teach his crews how to do the work according to manufacture's specs. (Builder's Worker "But we have been doing it this way for 20 years....? Me: "Sorry to tell you, but you have been doing it wrong for 20 years")
*Gave expert testimony at hearings
*Daily site visits to document corrections and in the end Intex removed the brick and siding and installed new flashing, siding and brick.

Sales price of the home was $1.2 million and Thea has spent
hundreds of hours dealing with these issues and thousands of dollars in non reimbursable expenses. Her family has also lived a stressful year in a home that has been under construction.

Be careful when hiring a contractor and always have an expert inspect the work while it is being performed. Many defects get covered up during the process of construction and will not be apparent until long after you have paid the builder.
