About Our Name
The foundation of photography is light. Photography ceases to exist without light.
Finding Our Light is an idea of discovering the foundation for photographers and aspiring photographers from marginalized communities. “We, the community” are shaping our narratives, documenting our histories, and creating a wealth of knowledge and access in commercial/editorial photography and overall photographic arts to expand our representation. “We” are finding “our” “light”, our history, and our honor in an industry that hasn’t responsibly done so until we decided to find it for ourselves.
