We started Move Over Bob because we thought the way girls see and access careers in the skilled trades could look a whole lot different.

Turns out, that makes us Disruptors. 😏

We’re officially welcoming DEWALT POWER TOOLS as Move Over Bob’s National Tool Partner for 2026–2027, helping us show the next generation of girls just how much room there is for them in the skilled trades.

Career education is having a moment 👏Around 11.2 million students are enrolled in Career Technical Education (CTE) programs across the U.S.

This fall, we head to schools, libraries and nonprofits across the country, putting skilled trades career exposure directly into the hands of young people.

CTE teachers + educators, this one’s for you. 🫶

What started as an idea to help more girls see themselves in the skilled trades is now reaching young people across the country.

And partnerships like this help us keep putting those magazines into their hands for free.

This is what access looks like at scale. 🛠️

Tradeswomen still make up only 4.3% of the construction trades workforce. But their numbers are growing: from 2015 to 2024, the number of women working in construction trades increased 77.3%. The momentum is there and we’re determined to do our part to keep those numbers climbing.

We want girls (and boys!) seeing welders, machinists, electricians, carpenters, plumbers, HVAC techs and builders long before they have to decide what they want to be.

You can’t picture yourself somewhere you’ve never been shown.

Turns out the sisterhood in the trades is thriving 💪

Trades Women Build Nations hosts the largest gathering of unionized tradeswomen in the world, bringing together thousands of tradeswomen and allies every year.

And this October, Move Over Bob + DEWALT are headed to Houston to join them.

We came to the trades for very different reasons, but somewhere along the way we realized we were trying to solve two sides of the same problem: girls deserve to know these careers exist sooner, and the women who choose them deserve more support when they get here.

So we built Move Over Bob.

What started with a magazine has grown into something much bigger and we have a lot more planned for where this goes next.

Labor Day is a day to celebrate American workers and the labor movement that fought for them.

And when we look back at the history of American work, women are all over it. Welding ships. Machining parts. Building aircraft. Doing jobs they were told weren’t for them and proving otherwise.

Today, we celebrate history and those that took the time to capture it.

Because who we see doing the work has always shaped who we believe can do it.

Jerrica Adams is a CNC machinist. Wynne Tsang is an aerospace welder. Together, their work at ATD Precision Manufacturing can take them from parts made for nuclear submarines to components headed for SpaceX rockets. Which is exactly why we wanted them on our cover. 🤩

Because some of the people helping build the machines doing the most extraordinary things on (and off) this planet are working on shop floors most of us will never see.

Move Over Bob | Women in Construction Magazine is gearing up for another year of blasting women’s stories far and wide.

We felt the magic on the historic bridge that day because it was the first time we got a real taste of what it might feel like to capture the kinds of role models we want to pass on to young girls everywhere.

A year later, our commitment to getting these role models into middle schools and high schools to show off their careers to young women is stronger than ever

Our hope is that they won’t have to grow up asking themselves, what if?

What if an image of who you could become looked like this?
