The conversation continues tomorrow with Episode 2:
Educating the Next Generation
We will explore how we can better prepare future beauty professionals through education, mentorship, and real-world experience. At 3Jay Productions, we're committed to creating conversations that challenge perspectives, elevate the industry, and inspire meaningful change.

Tomorrow, the conversations begin.

Over the past week, we've introduced the vision behind Competency Conversations, the topics we'll explore, and the professionals who have generously agreed to share their expertise. Now it's time to have the conversations.

Competency Conversations was created to bring together professionals who are making an impact across makeup and aesthetics through artistry, education, science, innovation, leadership, and service. Some are familiar faces. Others may be new to you, that was intentional.

At 3Jay Productions, we believe meaningful conversations happen when diverse perspectives come together with a shared commitment to advancing the profession. Every guest was selected not only for what they do, but for the knowledge, experience, and perspective they bring to the table.

Our hope is that each episode leaves you with a new insight, a new question, or a new way of approaching your work.

We begin with Episode 1: The Art & Responsibility of Color Matching.
We'll see you on DISBEAUTE.

Four conversations. Four perspectives. One commitment to raising the standard in makeup and aesthetics.

Four conversations. Four perspectives. One commitment to raising the standard in makeup and aesthetics.

When I first imagined Competency Conversations, I knew one thing...
I didn't want to create another panel. I wanted to create a space where professionals from different backgrounds, disciplines, and experiences could challenge us to think differently. Not louder conversations with the same faces.

Conversations that remind us that competency isn't just about technical ability. It's about curiosity, accountability, continued education, and a willingness to learn from one another.

Next week, those conversations begin.

This is not a paid class, it is completely free to attend. All you have to do is register at Disbeaute Beauty to join us as we learn, grow, and continue raising the standard together: https://disbeaute.live/

We’re excited to introduce Competency Conversations, an original four-part LIVE educational series created and produced by 3Jay Productions and hosted by Jalia Pettis streaming exclusively on DISBEAUTE.

This series was created with one purpose: to bring meaningful conversations to the forefront of makeup artistry and aesthetics.

Each episode brings together respected professionals from across the industry to explore topics that impact the way we serve clients, educate future professionals, develop products, and elevate the standards of our craft.

Over four episodes, we’ll discuss:
✨ The Art & Responsibility of Color Matching
✨ Educating the Next Generation
✨ Building Inclusive Beauty
✨ Skin Beyond the Surface

At 3Jay Productions, we believe education should inspire conversation, not just deliver information. By bringing together artists, educators, entrepreneurs, scientists, and industry leaders with diverse perspectives, our goal is to create a space where learning continues long after the conversation ends.

We hope you’ll join us as we explore what competency truly means and why it’s a commitment that benefits every beauty professional and every client we serve.

Raising the standard starts with the conversation.

Meet Alyssa the newest member of the team!

Alyssa is an independent filmmaker and creative who specializes in writing and directing films, videography and video editing.

Favorite food?
Pizza! I love trying new pizza restaurants all over the valley and when I travel. My favorite style is neapolitan pizza or a really good authentic New York slice. 🍕

If you could travel anywhere where would you go??
One of my bucket list destinations was Japan and I’m happy to say I did that this year! My next destination I’d love to go to is Mexico City. I want to see where my family comes from and the beauty of Mexico. 🇲🇽 ♥️

How long have you been in the industry?
Well I started taking filmmaking seriously when I was a freshman in high school so 2014-2017 is when I was an amateur filmmaker. I then studied at Pima Community College, University of California, Los Angeles, Arizona State University and earned my degree in Film and Media Production in 2021! I launched my freelancing work and business in 2022. 🎬

What is your WHY?
I have always loved the arts since I was a child. I fell in love with filmmaking in middle school and perused it throughout high school, college and now. Being raised in Tucson, Arizona there aren’t much resources to help underrepresented women of color succeed in the film industry. My WHY is to make that change. I want to help original underrepresented POC creators like myself create art!

3Jay Productions is planning a series of beauty test shoots and content creation sessions July 12–17, and we're looking for models who would love to create with us.

These collaborative shoots will bring together members of our creative team, including photographers, hairstylists, and makeup artists, making it a great opportunity to expand your portfolio, network with other creatives, and potentially work with artists you've been wanting to connect with.

While these are unpaid summer test shoots, you'll receive professional images and content from the session, along with the opportunity to build relationships within the creative community.

Models of all skin tones, hair textures, ages, genders, and experience levels are encouraged to apply.

Interested? Send us a DM with your preferred date(s) of availability, and we'll follow up with additional details once our team has reviewed submissions.

We can't wait to create with you!
