Burnt out as a leader? Ask yourself these 3 questions.

Many managers don’t burn out because they care too little…

They burn out because they care too much and carry too much.

At a recent leadership workshop where I was developing leaders using the DISC framework, I shared three questions every manager should ask when burnout starts creeping in:

• Am I leading or am I rescuing?
• Am I adapting or am I overextending?
• Am I empowering or am I absorbing?

Answering those questions honestly creates the awareness needed to reset.

Then I shared the 3 D’s of Sustainable Leadership:

1️⃣ Delegate
Where can you duplicate what you do and develop others?

2️⃣ Delay Timing
Not everything needs to be done today. Strategic leaders manage timing, not just tasks.

3️⃣ Develop
Set clear standards so work comes to you at a higher level. Leaders shouldn’t constantly be cleaning up problems—they should be developing people who solve them.

When leaders become intentional with their time and energy, burnout decreases and leadership impact increases.

Because great leadership isn’t about doing more…

It’s about multiplying others.

Your brain is always seeking balance. 🧠

Every shortcut comes with a cost.
Every hard choice comes with a return.

Cheap dopamine feels good now—
but it’s often followed by anxiety, restlessness, and regret.

The harder path—movement, discipline, honesty, doing the work—
pays differently.
It builds peace. Clarity. Self-respect.

Self-esteem isn’t something you think your way into.
It’s something you earn by keeping promises to yourself.

Do the hard thing today.
Your future self is already grateful.
