Mexican jumping beans aren’t beans, but seed pods. The jumping motion is caused by a moth larva living inside, the Cydia Saltitans. After the moth metamorphosizes and emerges from the seed pod, it lives for a couple days, lays more eggs, and starts the cycle over again.

Don’t let the bedbugs bite! Bedbug bites can usually be identified in a row or zig-zag pattern. The bites usually resolve themselves in one to two weeks but can be treated with baking soda, aloe, or calamine lotion.

Did you know that the first full week of June is Bed Bug Awareness Week? Here are some quick tips to prevent bed bug infestations:

- When traveling, inspect hotel rooms and keep luggage off the floor.
- Inspect secondhand furniture thoroughly before bringing it home.
- Vacuum frequently and seal cracks/crevices.
- Keep your home clutter-free to eliminate hiding spots for bed bugs.

Upon first glance, it just looks like a twig from a birch tree. But if you look closer, it's actually a buff-tip moth using its wings for disguise.
