In Loving Memory of Bill Luke Jr.

It is with great sadness that we share the passing of Bill Luke Jr., who entered into eternal life on the evening of October 25th, at his home. When he passed over he was accompanied by his husband, Sergio Andres Luke Cañas.

Bill was a beloved part of the Dignity-AZ family, and his presence will be deeply missed.

A Funeral Mass celebrating Bill’s life will be held on Wednesday, November 19th at 10:30 AM at Our Lady of Angels at the Franciscan Renewal Center, located at 5802 E Lincoln Dr, Paradise Valley, AZ.

We invite all who knew and loved Bill to join us in honoring his memory. Your thoughts and prayers are deeply appreciated by his family and friends during this time of loss.

May he rest in peace.

Dignity/Arizona joins the millions around the world in mourning the death of Pope Francis. His life and ministry exemplified the values Jesus taught and called us to live in our lives. His concern for the poor, the disenfranchised, and people on the margins of society bore unmistakable witness to the message of Christ, providing a sobering antidote to the insensitivity of the myriad oppressive, callous, and exploitive systems of the world. The world has lost a great and humble spiritual leader. May his example continue to inspire us, that we may unashamedly and unabashedly follow his example. May his soul, and the souls of all the departed, be at peace.

Thank you for your service

Dear friends: I was deeply honored to meet with Pope Francis for an hour-long conversation today at Casa Santa Marta. With his permission to share this, the Holy Father said he has known many good, holy and celibate seminarians and priests with homosexual tendencies. Once again, he confirmed my ministry with LGBTQ people and showed his openness and love for the LGBTQ community. It was also a great joy to receive his blessing on the 25th anniversary of my ordination to the priesthood.

Please be advised that Dignity/Arizona no longer meets every Saturday for the celebration of the Holy Eucharist. Our last publicly celebrated service was on Christmas Day, 2023. We remain an active Dignity chapter and will continue to meet for a monthly potluck dinner the third Saturday of the month and for occasional home liturgies throughout the year. If you would like any information about our activities or have any other questions, please call us at 603-230-4191. Please keep in mind that this number will allow you to leave a message only; it is not directly attended. Thank you.

It is with sad news to announce the passing of two members of Dignity. Tom Chapman past away in late September, and Jerry Mauldin passed during the second week of October. We will remember both of them at our weekend mass.

On Saturday October 28th at 6:00 pm, there will be a Fumeral Mass for Jerry. His family from New Mexico will join us. All are welcome.
