For many, their reason is what motivates them to work so hard.
Embedded in Hispanic culture is the idea that the people we consider to be family come first. This Hispanic Heritage Month, we recognize how our Hispanic people (who make up more than 50% of our workforce) have brought a culture of people-first thinking that aligns with our humanizing construction mission. We asked, "What is your reason for working?" Their responses reflect why we treat each person here with respect and honor. Each person's motivations are different, but understanding each other's "why" behind the work we do is an important part of building the culture we have across our enterprise.

Why does knowing the difference matter on the jobsite?
As our President, Adam Chini, explains, understanding that difference is what separates good leaders from great ones. Leaders who see past title see the capability of each person on their team. Understanding how those different levels of impact stack together across a construction site is how a project is delivered efficiently. This is what we call capability mapping.
Two electricians can carry the exact same title. One installs conduit. The other leads a live system tie-in and commissioning. Same title. Very different capabilities.
Titles fill roles. Capabilities deliver projects.
It's easy to take these shortcuts, but the consequences aren't worth it.
Be aware of the sirens that call to you in times of stress and remember that their reward is not worth the risk. Go home the same way you came in.

With the future of AI, humans have never been more needed.
Rudy, a Foreman with Corbins, has recently been highlighted by one of our team members for providing an excellent experience for his teammates on site. Rudy is known as a resource to fellow teammates on site, assisting with any questions or requests with an understanding and willingness to help out. His investment in our culture is what answers the doubts about a human's place in the development of AI. Rudy's knowledge is something we leverage for our project's success, and he exemplifies what it means to be a part of our culture here at Corbins.

When you're told college is the only route, remember this 25-year-old superintendent providing for a family of 5.
At 18, Cody Cole looked to join the trades after recognizing traditional further education wasn't right for him. Starting in our fabrication shop, Corbins built his career with him through an electrical apprenticeship, becoming a foreman, and now a field superintendent. Cody finds pride in his work and values the investment he and Corbins have made into himself and his career.
