Happy New Year from SHADE Industries!

We'd like to start this year by sharing a project that meant a lot to us.

In the fall of 2019, we had our sixth opportunity to partner with the Make-A-Wish Foundation, this time on behalf of a 5-year old girl named Rylee. Rylee suffers from medical conditions that cause life-threatening seizures, and which have resulted in multiple hospital stays and surgeries. She is also unable to sweat, and is therefore very sensitive to the sun and heat in Arizona.

The Make-A-Wish Foundation assembled a team of multiple contractors (including SHADE Industries) to build a splash pad in Rylee's backyard. Along with gracious contributions from our vendors, we donated and installed four columns and a shade sail over the splash pad, which provides over 660 square feet of shade.

The completed splash pad and shade structure will allow Rylee to play outdoors while remaining protected from the sun. We hope our contribution encourages strengthening for her, and can't wait to hear more about her development!

One of the best things about working for SHADE Industries is being able to give back to the community. At the 19 North Community Garden in Phoenix, we partnered with other contractors to donate a shade structure for the local residents. Many thanks to Hillary Rusk, who coordinated with us to get the project completed, and who sent some great photos! One of our employees, Jessica Le, can be seen enjoying the garden with her kids!

It's always fun when we have the chance to work on a unique project! For this residence in Rio Verde, Arizona, we installed vertical shade panels on a barn that provide shade to the owner's horses. They sure seem to be enjoying the new addition!

SHADE Industries recently had the honor of supporting the renovation and reopening of the American Legion Travis L. Williams Post 65 in Phoenix, Arizona.

As a pillar of the South Phoenix community, Post 65 offers enrichment programs which support local veterans and their families, in addition to providing a comfortable community gathering place. Prior to this year's renovations - the first in nearly 70 years - the Post's building had fallen into disrepair. The revitalization project involved cosmetic improvements, full facilities upgrades, and the installation of two shade structures in the enclosed rear patio space.

The Post was officially reopened during a ceremony on July 2nd. Numerous national and community figures were in attendance, including Arizona's Attorney General, Mark Brnovich; the Director of the Arizona Department of Veterans' Services, Wanda A. Wright; and Vice Mayor of the City of Phoenix, Jim Waring. At the ceremony, SHADE Industries' President, Conrad Masterson, was awarded a Silver Certificate of Appreciation for our contribution to the renovation.

We're thrilled for the release of the new DualShade 350 shade cloth from Gale Pacific! This fabric uses two different colors of yarn to create a textile that is one color when viewed from the front, and a different color on the reverse side. With such a cool new product to add to our repertoire, we can't wait to see what exciting design possibilities open up!

Living in the desert in the summer has its perks! One of our installation teams is currently at a private residence in Rio Verde, AZ, installing panels to provide shade to the residents' horses. They forwarded us this photo of a horned lizard that befriended them on the job site!
