Mock interviews are a key part of preparing for employment. The Be Ready® Jobseekers employment readiness program gives individuals who are neurodivergent the chance to practice interview skills in a structured, in-person setting. Participants build confidence, strengthen communication and become more familiar with common interview questions and expectations.

Monthly “Social Savvy” workshops bring First Place–Phoenix residents together for a community meal to practice social skills, including being an active listener and learning how to keep conversations interesting. These beneficial (and well attended!) gatherings help residents successfully navigate aspects of more independent living, including self-advocacy, friendships and employment.

For adults with autism and/or intellectual/developmental disabilities, the rigors of everyday life can be stressful. Creating routines is one way to alleviate that. First Place–Phoenix staff work with residents to help build daily structure and manage anxiety.
