Juneteenth is a time to honor the past, reflect on the progress made, and celebrate the strength, culture, and achievements of Black communities.

At Career Success School District, we believe education creates opportunities, empowers voices, and helps students build the futures they deserve!!

Today we honor. We reflect. We celebrate. Happy Juneteenth everyone!

πŸ“š Looking for ways to keep your child learning this summer without turning your home into a classroom?

Try these simple reading activities:

βœ… Let your child pick the book. Kids are more likely to read when they're interested in the topic.

βœ… Read together. Even older students benefit from taking turns reading pages aloud.

βœ… Ask questions while reading:
β€’ What do you think will happen next?
β€’ Who is your favorite character?
β€’ What would you do in this situation?

βœ… Connect books to real life. Reading about animals? Visit a zoo. Reading about nature? Take a family walk and explore.

βœ… Keep books visible. A basket of books in the living room can encourage spontaneous reading throughout the day.

Just 15 minutes of reading each day can help students strengthen vocabulary, comprehension, and confidence before the new school year begins.

Parents: What's your child's favorite book or book series right now? Share it below! πŸ“–πŸ‘‡

β˜€οΈ Summer break is a time to relax, recharge, and make memories, but a few simple habits can help students return to school feeling confident and ready to learn!

Here are four tips for Sage families this summer:

πŸ›οΈ Keep a Consistent Bedtime
Maintaining a regular sleep schedule can make the transition back to school much smoother.

πŸ“± Limit Passive Screen Time
Balance screen time with activities that encourage creativity, movement, and learning.

πŸ’¬ Encourage Daily Conversations
Talking with your child about their interests, experiences, and ideas helps build communication skills and confidence.

🧩 Let Kids Solve Problems Independently
Giving children opportunities to think through challenges on their own helps develop resilience and critical thinking skills.

Small habits today can help build success for tomorrow. Have a safe, fun, and memorable summer, Sage Dragons! πŸ‰β˜€οΈ

To every teacher, aide, front office staff, counselor, and every single person who shows up for our Dragons every day, this one is for you. πŸ‰πŸ’›

You stayed late, you came in early, you celebrated the wins and showed up even harder on the tough days. You learned every student's name, remembered their favorite things, and made this school feel like a second home. That does not go unnoticed.

As we close out the 2025-2026 school year we want every member of the Sage Elementary staff to know how deeply appreciated you are. Not just this week, not just today, but every single day of the year.

From our Dragon families to you, thank you. We could not have done it without you and we mean that with our whole hearts. πŸ™βœ¨

A quick reminder for our families, there is no school on Monday May 25th in observance of Memorial Day. Our last day of school is Thursday May 28th and it will be a half day!

Drop a heart in the comments if you have a Sage staff member who made a difference in your child's life this year! πŸ’›
