May was an adventure! Early May spent a weekend in the hospital, but started to feel more like my old self again! So grateful for the partnership ❤️ and support at home. Let’s go June!!! I’m ready!

The mystery infection was cleared, and by prioritizing hydration, nutrition, rest, and exercise (with prayers), Thursday's lab results were the best yet! 🙏

Spent the majority of the weekend in the hospital. I felt pretty good but had a fever with little known cause, so they kept me overnight. Yet another challenge faced and completed. Very grateful to be home!

Consider this! if everyone on the kidney transplant list were to gather for a big meeting of Warriors… No basketball arena, concert venue, or NFL stadium would be able to accommodate the group. Only the largest few college football stadiums could. This is one of them!

It was really cool to see the Mayo building lit up this way to raise awareness to organ donation!

So day 24 with the new kidney is here and after the biopsy and ultrasound we are still not seeing kidney functioning as we had hoped. The transplant team is all over the situation, but are escalating things to a critical care team. This includes bringing the surgeons, the transplant doctors and nurses and almost everyone who has touched the case. They are also reaching out to see how the recipient of the other kidney is doing (who wasn’t at the same hospital). While this sounds alarming, it isn’t entirely unusual. However, the doctors are taking it seriously as they look at multiple ultrasounds… comparing day 0 biopsy with day 19 biopsy… labs from every other day etc. The good news is is no dialysis again today… last dialysis was on 2/29. So that too is positive.
Thank you for continuing the prayers 🙏

New way of living!

Labs before sunrise 4 out of 5 days this week. Biopsy and ultrasound of the new kidney planned for tomorrow (as well as dialysis). All of this is relatively “normal” for this stage of the transplant as we patiently wait for kidney function to improve. Thank you for thoughts and prayers… support has been amazing!
