Our mission is to turn "garbage" into food and show you how you can too.

Our mission is to decrease our impact on the local waste stream, reduce time spent composting and create a safe and organic benefit to our garden

Setting compost. This will be ready about January 2027.

Simple (!) process: We have refined our recipe of Green Food Waste, Ground Landscape Waste and Horse Manure to achieve a 30:1 C:N ratio when we make it. We build layers and then (with a water truck, pump, and hose) deep water the wedge manually for the first time.

The wedge will heat to 145 degrees within a couple of hours as (mostly) bacteria converts Nitrogen inputs - using Carbon - into a form that is accessible by plants. We let it stay above 142 degrees for three days, then we use a compost turner to turn it from the bottom up to expose fresh organic matter to the microbes. This process cools the wedges - we then water them heavily again and they will heat up.

We take our compost through three or four heat cycles (above 142 degrees for three days) to make sure we kill any pathogens and all the w**d seeds. After the fourth heat cycle, the wedges will only heat to about 130 degrees. This process is completely biological - the outside temperature does not impact this at all.

After than, we monitor it continuously using probes and watch the temperatures and moisture levels for about six months. We water six days a week to maintain the correct moisture levels. The microbes will continue doing their work to make Nitrogen available using the Carbon. The compost is ready for your gardens when it has cooled back to ambient temperature and the C:N ratio is about 8:1. Fungi will grow many feet long during that curing process, improving the compost for your gardens.

We will quite literally touch, water, or turn this compost on 144 of the next 168 days. And we will monitor it every single day.

Thanks to Le Portager for letting us spray this amazing design and installation. Spraying at this point in a landscape process helps immediately create microbial life where little existed before.

Healthier plants, reduced transplant shock, and plants and soil that can protect themselves from the summer heat.

Tea Spray this morning at a truly spectacular landscape installation. Active Worm Casting Tea introduces literally billions of microbes into the soil and on the leaves of plants - huge benefits for new installations, including dramatic reduction in transplant shock and improved root growth.

We all know how expensive new landscaping costs - DIY or with a hired company - tea is an inexpensive way to get better long term results

Details on our sprays are here: https://arizonawormfarm.com/mobile-tea-sprays

Spaces are open all summer - and if you want a spray and don't see a slot that works for you, please email ([email protected]) or DM and we will try to open one for you.

Funny in a movie, not so much in your yard. If you have gophers, we have a class for that!

Our gopher kit and training has been 100% successful with our participants. Want to join? Details here: https://www.facebook.com/events/1930350187617545

This is what a complete gopher trapping kit looks like. It is included in our class coming next Saturday.

Class details are here: https://www.facebook.com/events/1930350187617545

We teach you how to trap gophers in your yard and send you home with a complete kit with all the tools you need to be successful. Our students have a 100% success rate using our approach.

The kit includes:

2 traps from Trapline (called the Gophinator from https://www.traplineproducts.com/). This is the single most effective and long lasting trap on the market.

A probe and tunnel extender from GopherHawk (https://gopherhawk.com/). This helps ensure you get your trap set deep in the tunnel.

Two flags (to keep the gophers from taking the traps and to remind you where they are!) and two mound/trap covers. The covers are our "secret sauce" to hiding the traps from the gophers.

We will show you how to find the tunnels, set the traps, place the traps, and what to look for.

If you have gophers - we can help!

An ASU Professor named Subhankar Mandal, Ph.D. who's area of study is Sustainable Horticulture, has been studying our Nutrient+ as a way to reduce the amount of commercial (chemical) fertilizer needed to grow plants. Attached is a summary from his Report:

Nutrient+ Effects on Lettuce
Nutrient Availability, Fertilizer Efficiency, Plant Health, and Soil Function
Based on ASU lettuce biostimulant trials (2025-2026)

There are years more study coming, but his early conclusions are that Nutrient+ will help stressed plants, trigger growth of thicker leaves, and improve soil structure.

We have seen - and heard from lots of you - that this stuff works. It is especially good for helping plants and trees that are not doing well recover. We get more flowers, more fruit, and healthier plants.

This is a good time to add this to your trees - thicker leaves help them protect themselves from sun damage. It works in concert with our Worm Castings Teas to make it easier for trees to survive our summer and thrive in our winter.

For me, the best part is that this uses no petrochemicals. We rescue food waste from our landfills and use it to raise Black Soldier Fly Larvae to feed our plants and trees. Local waste turned into a local asset!

It is available at the Worm Farm and Nurseries.

If you see one of these mounds in your yard or by your trees, you should come take our gopher trapping class (https://www.facebook.com/events/1930350187617545)

A gopher can take out a full size tree in a couple of days -and they breed super fast (they produce babies less than 30 days from breeding and typically have 3 to 7 pups - who are then ready to breed themselves in less than a year).

We have a 100% success rate teaching how to trap gophers - we send our students home with a complete trapping kit, including traps, probes, and our "secret sauce" mound covers.

Got entrepreneurial kids? We have trained kids as young as 13 how to trap gophers - and they earned money all summer taking care of gophers in their neighbors' yards.
