Veterans receiving disability benefits through the VA or Social Security often want to return to work but worry about losing healthcare, compensation, or financial stability. The Ticket to Work program can provide a structured and supportive pathway back into employment while helping Veterans understand how work may affect their benefits. By working with an Employment Network (EN), Veterans can receive individualized career guidance, job placement assistance, resume development, interview preparation, and ongoing support after employment begins. This allows the Veteran to focus on rebuilding independence and confidence while having professional support throughout the process.

A certified Benefits Counselor plays a critical role in helping Veterans make informed decisions before accepting employment. Many Veterans are understandably concerned about how wages could impact SSDI, SSI, Medicare, Medicaid, VA disability compensation, or other public benefits. A Benefits Counselor explains work incentives, trial work periods, extended periods of eligibility, healthcare protections, and reporting requirements in clear language. This helps Veterans avoid overpayments, reduce fear surrounding employment, and understand that returning to work can often be done gradually and safely without immediately losing essential benefits.

Riseability works closely with individuals with disabilities, including Veterans, by providing personalized vocational rehabilitation and employment support services through the Employment Network model. Riseability understands that many Veterans face not only physical injuries, but also challenges related to adjustment, confidence, chronic pain, anxiety, PTSD, or long periods away from the workforce. Through individualized planning, encouragement, and practical employment assistance, Riseability helps Veterans identify realistic career goals while connecting them with community resources, benefits counseling, and ongoing employment supports. The combination of an Employment Network and Benefits Counseling services creates a coordinated support system that helps Veterans move toward meaningful employment while protecting the stability of their financial and medical benefits.
