ANOTHER JACINTHS LLC CLIENT HAS OFFICIALLY BEEN APPROVED FOR 501(c)(3) NONPROFIT STATUS!!! 🎉🙌🏽

This one is making me emotional.

I’ve been working with the founder of Titan Transition since JANUARY as one of my coaching clients, and when I tell you we have come SO FAR… whew. 😭

Titan Transition is based in Colorado and was created to serve and support children with special needs and their families. What started as a vision is now officially a federally recognized nonprofit organization!

We’ve worked through the planning, paperwork, questions, setbacks, corrections, and all the little things people don’t see behind the scenes when building a nonprofit from the ground up.

And TODAY I get to say:

TITAN TRANSITION IS OFFICIALLY A 501(c)(3)!!! 😭🙌🏽🎉

This is why these clients become so much more than paperwork to me. I get to watch somebody come to me with an idea and then watch that idea become an organization that can eventually impact real families.

Now it’s time for the next chapter: building the organization, preparing for funding, developing partnerships, and getting ready to serve the Colorado community.

One thing I wish more nonprofits understood about grants: the timeline can be LONG.

Some grants can take up to 8 months from application to award or funding.

I know it can get discouraging when you’re applying and not seeing funding come in right away, but grant writing is not instant gratification. There is so much work that happens before you ever see an award.

And honestly? Sometimes the grant writer is more upset about the denial than the organization. 😂 We put our heart and SOUL into these applications. We research, write, rewrite, build budgets, gather documents, meet deadlines, and then wait right along with you.

It may take 6, 8, even 9 months before your organization receives its first grant—especially when you’re pursuing larger opportunities. Smaller grants may have shorter timelines, but every funder is different.

Don’t let the waiting convince you that the process isn’t working.

Keep applying.
Keep strengthening your organization.
Keep building relationships.
Keep going.

Grant funding is a journey, not a quick fix. 💛

WHEN IS IT TIME TO FIRE A CLIENT? 👀

One of the hardest lessons in business is realizing that not every paying client is a good client.

Sometimes it may be time to end the relationship when:

• Boundaries are constantly ignored
• Payments are repeatedly late
• The scope of work keeps changing without additional compensation
• Communication becomes disrespectful
• Your professional advice is constantly dismissed, but you’re still expected to fix the outcome
• The client relationship is taking significantly more time and energy than the agreement allows

And here’s the important part: firing a client doesn’t have to be messy or personal.

Review your contract. Document your communication. Complete or properly transition any work you’re responsible for. Follow your termination terms. Stay professional.

Being paid for your services doesn’t mean someone purchased unlimited access to you.

Sometimes protecting your business means knowing which clients to accept—and knowing when it’s time to professionally let one go.

A Grant Is Not the First Step.

One of the biggest mistakes I see nonprofits make is searching for grants before making sure their organization is actually grant-ready.

Having your 501(c)(3) is important—but that alone doesn’t mean you’re ready to compete for funding.

Before applying, ask yourself:

✔️ Do we have a clear mission and programs?
✔️ Do we have an operating budget?
✔️ Can we explain exactly how grant funds will be used?
✔️ Do we have measurable goals and outcomes?
✔️ Are our organizational documents current and organized?

Grant writing starts BEFORE the application. The stronger your foundation is, the stronger your application can be.

Your business does NOT have to look like somebody else’s business to be successful.

Sometimes growth means the fancy office, bigger team, and major contracts.

Other times, growth looks like working with what you have, cutting unnecessary expenses, getting your paperwork organized, fixing your business structure, and making smarter decisions with your money.

Don’t let social media convince you that you’re behind because your journey doesn’t look like someone else’s.

Build the business you can sustain—not the business you’re trying to make look impressive.

One of the biggest mistakes new business owners and nonprofit founders make is trying to do EVERYTHING at once.

You do not need the perfect logo, perfect website, 10 programs, five grants submitted, and every document completed in your first week.

Start with the foundation.

Make sure your business or organization is properly formed, your documents are in place, your finances are organized, and you actually understand what your next step should be.

A strong foundation will save you time, money, and a whole lot of frustration later.
