THOUGHT FOR THE DAY

In 1905, an Italian teacher Roberto Nevills invented the homework as a punishment for lazy students who refused to learn in class.

Today, private school teachers in many African countries use homework as a punishment to parents for daring to send their children to school.

Sometimes, if you see the volume of homework that primary school pupils come home with, you begin to wonder if teachers and parents are sworn enemies.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY

On Dec. 5, 1945, 5 US military Jets on a training mission vanished shortly after take-off. Another aircraft sent to search for them also vanished. A total of 6 planes with 27 soldiers vanished without trace till today.

They vanished at the same area Christopher Columbus described in 1492 as a mysterious place in the Atlantic Ocean. So far, 50 ships and 20 planes have been lost at the same area.

The mystery of the Bermuda Triangle points to the existence of evil forces, principalities and powers.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY

Aliko Dangote borrowed N500,000 from his uncle in 1977 to start his trading business. He repaid his uncle within 3 months without waiting for it to turn to a family dispute.

N500k then is like N500m today. How many uncles can lend such money to their relatives today and how many relatives can pay back when they borrow?

Both Dangote and his uncle are rare breeds. One thing is to have someone who can lend and another is to have someone who can borrow and pay back.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY

If you see money to buy land, please don't hesitate to do so. If you cannot buy in the city, then buy in your village.

The city you see today was a village yesterday and the village you see today would be a city tomorrow.

People don't wait to buy land, they buy land and wait for it to appreciate. Land is the only investment that doesn't depreciate.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY

In this month of September, many parents would pay over N1m as school fees for their children in private schools. This is outside books and uniforms.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY

The same way we need rest is also the same way our vital organs need rest. The liver, kidney, pancreas and the entire digestive system deserve rest in the night.

We rest them while we sleep and then the brain is freed to process and consolidate information into memories.

As such, eating late without giving a gap of 2–3 hours before bed is bad. It keeps your digestive system restless, struggling to digest while the rest of your body is trying to repair. It messes with the natural process flow and robs both your body and brain of the rest they need.
