The Power Rangers Set Was a Hotbed of Labor Exploitation
Mighty Morphin Power Rangers was awesome and will live in our hearts forever. Sadly, it was also a completely disastrous nonunion workplace where actors were paid pennies, worked to the ground, homophobically bullied, and nearly set on fire.

Power Rangers Zeo (1996)
Airing from April 20th to November 27th in 1996 on Fox Kids, Zeo is also a continuation of the previous series. In fact, each series was linked until Lost Galaxy, which we’ll get to later. Here, the main antagonist is the Machine Empire, although Rita and Lord Zedd do reappear.

To any ’90s kid who raced home after school for morphin’ time: Put those L.A. Lights back on and get ready to run to a movie theater.
When candy-colored Mighty Morphin Power Rangers premiered on Fox in 1993, the TV show’s central characters were spandex-clad “teenagers with attitude” who — in addition to dealing with high school romances and bullies — were tapped by an alien life force to protect Earth from extraterrestrial evildoers.
That premise remains intact in the new big-screen reboot, but both the teens and the action have been upgraded inside and out.
Gone are the TV show’s low-budget fight scenes. (Executive producer Haim Saban used to use footage from a Japanese show.) In their place are special-effects-laden action sequences that could go toe-to-toe with any Transformers movie.
But Saban’s Power Rangers feels much more like a Marvel movie than anything by Michael Bay.
The cast is still diverse, but (thankfully!) the Yellow Ranger is no longer Asian and the Black Ranger is no longer black. Their spandex has been traded in for body armor akin to Iron Man’s. And their teenage angst is a result of modern millennial problems.
Pink Ranger Kimberly (Naomi Scott) is a former popular girl who is shunned by her clique after she shares compromising photos of a friend. Blue Ranger Billy (RJ Cyler) is “on the spectrum” and still dealing with the death of his father. Red Ranger Jason (Dacre Montgomery) is a football star whose school-prank-gone-wrong gets him kicked off the team and earns him a police-issued ankle bracelet. Black Ranger Zack (Ludi Lin) is caring for his terminally ill mother. And Yellow Ranger Trini (“Shower” singer Becky G) is a transfer student whose sexual orientation has made family dinners very tense.

Beast Morphers Introduced New Twists To The Morphing Grid
-The Morphing Grid, the power source that links all Power Rangers teams across multiple periods and realities, is a fascinating idea that is featured in Beast Morphers. The Morphing Grid could be accessed in this television series by people who weren't Rangers. By fusing the energy of the Grid with animal DNA, the city of Coral Harbor was able to develop its own squad of protectors and produce clean energy as a result.

RPM Delivered Relatable Characters Surviving In A Dark World
-As bleak, dark, and entertaining as fans had imagined the 2017 Power Rangers film would be, RPM is a post-apocalyptic series. The show centers on a group of Rangers who are attempting to safeguard the inhabitants of Corinth, the planet's final free city, from the computer virus Venjix. Every turn of RPM is emotionally riveting and tragic, frequently incorporating topics that would have been deemed too serious for earlier episodes. RPM has a cast of characters that feel like real people with believable motivations. Anyone, Power Rangers fan or not, should watch RPM.

Jungle Fury Introduced The First Purple Ranger
-Jungle Fury is sometimes overlooked because it came after the unsuccessful Operation Overdrive series. Three martial artists who have spent years honing their skills are followed in Jungle Fury. The antagonist of the tale is Jarrod, a corrupted pupil. Jarrod lost his chance to fulfill his destiny as the Red Ranger and instead became the Dai Shi's instrument of evil. The first Purple Ranger, RJ, was debuted in Jungle Fury along with a core group of Red, Yellow, and Blue Rangers. The show also put a lot of emphasis on both individuality and teamwork.

Mystic Force Was The First Series To Have A Mystical Focus
-Mystic Force set itself apart from earlier seasons by creating a backstory that prioritized magic above the usual science fiction components of the program. Intriguing story twists in Mystic Force included pals turning bad and missing relatives. The show also showed how many Power Rangers had to get over their fears in order to perfect their special skills. The series distinguished itself from earlier seasons by developing a mythology that focused on magic rather than the science fiction elements common to the franchise. The series had a strong blend of comedy and drama that shaped its success and earned it a place among the greats of the Power Rangers franchise. Intriguing narrative developments in Mystic Force included pals turning bad and

When American Graffiti premiered in 1973, it was only 11 years out from when the movie took place. "Where were you in '62?" asked the film's tagline. The world had changed a lot in a decade, and director George Lucas understood perfectly the power nostalgia for that more "innocent" time could hold over an audience. American Graffiti went on to become one of the most profitable films of all time. Four years later, Lucas released Star Wars, making nostalgic appeal the central business of Hollywood.
Power Rangers, which comes out this weekend, follows quite perversely in the tradition Lucas established. It's a film whose entire existence is predicated on the notion that nostalgia can be leveraged as a spark for something new. Not creatively new, mind you, but merely a new source of revenue for producers who own pre-existing IP. Lucas understood that nostalgia was a powerful driver of emotion. Are those of us who grew up watching Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers supposed to feel that deep longing for a time when we didn't have taste enough to know we were watching utter trash?

White Dino Ranger (Power Rangers Dino Thunder)
Like most Rangers who start out evil, Trent stole the show while working against the team, and became a powerful ally once he started working with them. Throughout Power Rangers Dino Thunder, he feels almost unfair in his abilities—he has the ability to camouflage himself while unmorphed, allowing him to collect information on his enemies.
While transformed, he can move at super-speed, which has been a problem for both the Rangers and the villains alike, depending on whose side he’s on. His main weapon, the Drago Sword, can fire laser arrows making him great as a distanced fighter, and he has control of both the Dragozord and the Stegozord to give him his own megazord. He’s a complete fighter the Rangers were lucky they were able to turn good.

Thirty years later, it's once again morphin' time.
"The Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers," with all their cheesy, hacky, primary-colored glory, have returned three decades after they ruled the lives of millennial kids chomping on Dunkaroos after school in the 90s.
The original series, which ran from 1993-1996 in the Fox Kids programming block, spawned a mega-franchise of dozens of series, films and more toys and merchandise than even the great Zordon could imagine. The show, based on the Japanese series "Super Sentai," featured five (later six) "teenagers with attitude" and superpowers fighting increasingly harebrained monsters, from space witch Rita Repulsa to a turtle with a traffic light on its head.

wesome trivia about the film
Power Rangers (billed as Saban’s Power Rangers) is an upcoming superhero film directed by Dean Israelite and written by John Gatins, Kieran Mulroney, Michele Mulroney, and Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless. The film is based on the franchise of the same name, it stars Dacre Montgomery, Naomi Scott, RJ Cyler, Becky G, Ludi Lin, Bill Hader, Bryan Cranston and Elizabeth Banks.
Bryan Cranston, who plays Zordon in the film, had previously voiced the monsters Twin Man and Snizzard in Mighty Morphin Power Rangers (1993). Additionally, the first Blue Ranger Billy Cranston was named after Cranston himself.
The Angel Grove High logo in the film is the same one used in Mighty Morphin Power Rangers (1993).
In Trini’s bedroom there is a window that features a circle with a tiger’s head; this was the Yellow Ranger’s original Power Coin design in Mighty Morphin Power Rangers (1993).
Originally scheduled for release on July 22, 2016, Lionsgate delayed the release to January 2017 to allow the film “room to grow.” The date was pushed again to March 24, 2017.
The Power Ranger uniforms have been upgraded from spandex armor to an alien crystal that forms around the rangers.
This is the third Power Rangers movie to be on the big screen, after Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Movie (1995) & Turbo: A Power Rangers Movie (1997). However, this is a reboot of the series and is not connected to these two films.
Some Angel Grove street signs read “Reefside” and “Ocean Bluff Rd.” These are a reference to Power Rangers DinoThunder (2004) and Power Rangers Jungle Fury (2008), which were set in the cities of Reefside and Ocean Bluff.
First theatrical Power Rangers movie in 20 years.
At one point the Yellow Ranger Trini wears a shirt that reads 1973. This was the year that the original Trini Thuy Trang was born.
The first Power Rangers movie to receive a PG-13 rating.

The Power Rangers have been around for 29 years now, giving generations of superhero fans nearly three decades of giant robot fighting, evil moon witch cackling, and the inherent joy of color-coded superhero transformation sequences. But they’d be in a very different place without, of course, the series that helped make them visual icons: Kyōryū Sentai Zyuranger.
First airing in Japan on February 21, 1992, Zyuranger was, and in some ways influentially still is, in the shadow of its predecessor in the long running Super Sentai series, Chōjin Sentai Jetman. The 16th entry in a superhero universe that is still running to this very day, there was a time where Zyuranger may never have happened all if not for Jetman’s radical overhaul of the Super Sentai formula—injecting more intra-team drama, more nuanced villains, and character work beyond the spectacle of the giant robots and super-suited martial arts action—hadn’t revitalized the series, saving it from impending cancellation. While Zyuranger extrapolated and built on some of those elements itself, it also veered off in more fantastical directions.
