I randomly came across Kenya’s music as Deja Vu was going viral online with his original version. It had that real 80s vibe that I’ve always loved and knew I had to produce my own version of the record. So I stepped out of my comfort zone and ripped the song and basically finished the song In a single day. You never know how another artist will react when you randomly dm them a new version of their original piece. But gotta shoot your shot right? He was more than welcoming throughout the entire process which had created a bond that’s hard to find in an industry that constantly breaks you down. This is the story of Deja Vu and how shooting your shot no matter where you’re at in your career tends to pay off

It’s wild to think everybody was turning back time to the 80s the last few weeks using AI when we’ve been doing it in real time for years. Sometimes the music is the only thing that really needs to take you back to a certain era and I know we did it with this one. It feels like Deja Vu

What started as a chance meeting, has blossomed into a beautiful friendship in music and more. You guys have been asking for this one for months and it’s finally here. Deja Vu with my dog Kenya Amir drops Friday. Girl you been on my miiiiinndddddd 😏

A little story for you guys about where I was at when I first started signing music to Catch & Release. And how one thing can kick you back into gear, and inspire you to continue pursuing your dreams. Every dream has its ups and downs, but in the end you’ve gotta remind yourself that if you’re doing what you love, then you’re in the right place 💙

I’ve always viewed collaboration as friendly competition. It allows you to showcase your best work with someone there doing the exact same thing. You push each other in a way that isn’t possible when working alone. Last week I had the opportunity to spend 4 days in the studio with some of the most talented, and inspiring individuals I’ve ever had a chance to work with. I wanna say thank you to them and the entire DIRTYBIRD & EMPIRE team for giving us a space to create With no boundaries. I’m more than looking forward to doing this again, and can’t wait for you guys to hear the music that came out of this camp

They said it couldn’t be done, but San Francisco open to close: WE DID THAT! You guys brought the energy start to finish and by the time 4 hrs came it didn’t feel long enough AT ALL. Discomfort is one of the best feelings you can have if you’ve learned to understand it’s the best place to be when you wanna grow. The only way to become more comfortable in uncomfortable situations, is to put yourself in them
Over and over. My entire career I’ve played sets 60-120 min and got comfortable with that. These longer sets are allowing me to grow as an artist and evolve in a way I never have before.
