Homolovi II is the largest Ancestral Hopi Pueblo in the Homolovi Cluster, a site of over 1,200 rooms, 47 kivas, and a history stretching back to A.D. 1260. Situated along the Little Colorado River near Winslow, Arizona, it was once a major hub at the crossroads of prehistoric trading routes in the Southwest.

On October 3, the Flagstaff Festival of Science is offering a rare, ranger-led guided tour of Homolovi II and its ancient petroglyphs, and spots are extremely limited. Only 20 people will get to walk this ground, explore the pueblo, and hike to rock art that has endured for centuries.

This is history, archaeology, and the natural landscape of Northern Arizona all in one morning. Don't let this one pass you by. 🔭

Today, the swim area at Slide Rock State Park reopens in coordination with the revised USFS closure order for Oak Creek. The closure lifts after flooding risks from monsoon rains following the Pocket Fire have decreased. Visitors are encouraged to stay informed and prioritize their personal safety while enjoying recreation in the creek. 🪨 The sandstone rocks under the water's surface are very slippery, so be very careful when crossing on foot.
💧 Bring plenty of drinking water in reusable or plastic containers; glass containers are prohibited in the swim area.
🛟 In all situations, swimmers should exercise caution. There is no lifeguard on duty; swimming is at your own risk.
☁️ Monitor the weather and remain aware of your surroundings. If a rainstorm threatens, move to higher ground. Always move indoors if lightning is present.
