Shocked to learn of the death of NASCAR legend Kyle Busch, who was set to race this weekend in the Coca-Cola 600 but it was announced today that he was hospitalized with a serious illness. Busch won two NASCAR Cup titles and 63 series races. He was just 41 years old with 11 and 4 year old children. No word yet on the cause of death, just this statement from NASCAR:
“We are saddened and heartbroken to share the news of the passing of Kyle Busch, a two-time Cup champion and one of our sport’s greatest and fiercest drivers. He was 41 years old.
We extend our deepest condolences to the Busch family, Richard Childress Racing and the entire motorsports community.”

It's been a minute but I'll be back on FOX 29 tonight for the Phantastic Sports Show at 6:30pm. A lot to talk about including the arrest of Eagles Defensive End Nolan Smith, arrested in Georgia for driving 137mph in a 70mph zone. I can't even imagine being able to a control a car going that fast. Scary, risky, irresponsible, and disappointing to hear. Not to mention - not very smart as he heads into a CRUCIAL season for himself personally. Thoughts?

Ever get stuck in a rut? That's been happening to me quite a bit the last couple years. I'm not sure what it is really - did I become a homebody? Am I dealing with a lack of self-confidence or struggling with my identity because of the change in my career status? Is it a motivation thing? Well, whatever I can chalk it up to, I've found myself saying "no" to a lot of public speaking engagements I used to jump at. The reason I bring this up is, this past month I said YES... TWICE... and am I ever glad I did! Two opportunities to get off my couch, put on some makeup, get in front of huge audiences of people, and remember WHY I love doing what I do. Two opportunities to smile, and lead, and engage, and laugh, and meet a ton of new people, and hear amazing speakers, and make a difference.
So... first, thank you to Cindy Webster for hooking me up with Girls on the Run Philadelphia - an INCREDIBLE organization doing miraculous things with the young girls in our community. I was blessed to host their Sneaker Soiree (cocktail dress and cool KICKS - no high heels! Can't beat that), leading a panel of two inspirational young teens along with one of their coaches who left me in awe with their poise, confidence, and grace. I then got to put on my auctioneer hat (who knew?) and we were lucky enough to raise a LOT of money for a special organization.
A couple weeks later it was my privilege to host the Philly JCC's Junior Maccabi Games Opening Ceremonies! Philadelphia was lucky enough to host 1,100 young athletes from ages 9-12 this year, with delegations coming from all over the East Coast. The "Jewish Olympics" are incredibly special, the kids getting the chance to compete in their sport while making new friends and learning to embrace and be proud of their Jewish heritage. My little guy Brayden had the chance to be on the swim team!
Both of these events left me feeling incredibly fulfilled (and exhausted!) but more so really HAPPY that THIS time, I chose to say YES.
Moral of the story... sometimes you have to give yourself a kick in the pants.

Sixers President and GM Daryl Morey is OUT according to reports but Nick Nurse will stay on as head coach. The Morey Era not terribly successful would you agree?

To my Mom - thank you for being my first call when I’m elated, and my first call when I’m devastated. It’s amazing to be loved by you. To my MIL in heaven - you are missed every minute of every day. And to my hubby and boys who made this such a wonderful Mother’s Day - thank you for giving me the greatest title in the world. Raising you is the hardest job I’ve ever had, but the most rewarding, and the true joy of my life. I feel so incredibly blessed to watch you grow and turn into who you were meant to be. Happy Mother’s Day to all the beautiful Moms and Mother-figures, and to those for whom this day is difficult, I see you and my heart is with you. ❤️
