With the Eagles game on the horizon, we’re reflecting on our 2024 work at Gummeson Grounds, where we created a unique and immersive experience for both athletes and fans. Drawing inspiration from English-style soccer stadiums, we designed a new athletics facility that includes goal terraces, improved seating, and a grass pitch tucked behind a hill—enhancing the energy and anticipation of every game. Can’t help but think about the excitement of live sports and the incredible atmosphere we’ve helped create! Go Leopards and Go Birds!

ALMA is proud to have received the Pennsylvania AIA 2024 COTE Award of Excellence for our work on the Simon Center at Lafayette College. This award recognizes buildings that promote the health and wellness of occupants, communities, and the environment. Our team was honored to accept the award alongside many other outstanding firms last Tuesday at the Pennsylvania AIA viewing party.

Golaski Flats (aka Golaski Labs), a mixed-use development ALMA completed in 2022, is currently featured at the Center for Architecture as part of the Framework for Design Excellence Greenbuild Showcase under the Equitable Communities Category. This project, which combines 35 modular residential units with restored masonry and heavy timber commercial spaces, honors the legacy of Walter Golaski, a pioneering biomedical engineer. The design team navigated complex challenges, balancing budget constraints with thoughtful preservation and modern construction techniques to create a vibrant, sustainable community hub. Great dedication party! ALMA is proud to have worked closely with Benchmark in designing and building The Parker, a transformative residential development in Hawthorne, Philadelphia! Featuring 45 residential units—14 of which are designated for lower-income housing—The Parker is a key part of Philadelphia’s pilot program to promote affordable housing. A highlight of the project is a small public parklet, honoring the late KeVen Parker, owner of the beloved Ms. Tootsie’s. This green space not only enhances the neighborhood but also features art that celebrates his legacy.

We are proud to have been part of The Simon Center for Economics and Business at Lafayette College. The Simon Center's transformation from an old biology building to a modern, light-filled hub for economics and policy studies has enhanced student collaboration, faculty productivity, and sustainability through 32 faculty offices, 10 classrooms, multiple collaborative spaces, and LEED Silver certification.

As students gear up to return to campus later this month, ALMA takes a look back at the revitalization of Lafayette College's oldest building, South College. Completed in 2021, the renovation introduces a bright atrium that uses daylighting strategies to illuminate an underutilized basement area. Private nooks, open lounges, and versatile activity spaces offer flexible areas for students to study and relax. Having served many purposes over the decades, this historic building now seamlessly blends its storied past with modern functionality.

Over these last 11 years, we’ve been privileged to partner with countless clients, consultants, builders, and communities to provide exceptional design solutions informed by thorough investigations. ALMA is proud to have accomplished over 300 projects.
