Fireball ACCT-A-251084 is currently considered urgent and at risk of euthanasia due to medical concerns. Fireball must have confirmed placement with a RESCUE PARTNER by SATURDAY, MAY 30TH at 10AM. Should Fireball's medical or behavioral status change, his urgency and timeline for placement may also change.

Fireball is a 14-year-old neutered male cat who arrived as a stray on May 25th. His finder noted that he appeared to have a large stomach while being very thin, and described him as friendly but scared. Upon intake he was underweight and dehydrated, experiencing diarrhea, and showed multiple bloodwork abnormalities. From the moment he arrived, he has been actively seeking out attention — vocalizing for staff, coming forward for pets, and nuzzling into hands. He is gentle, cooperative, and clearly loves affection. Fireball will require a rescue partner who can provide ongoing medical care and pursue further diagnostics. Due to his medical concerns, Fireball is urgently seeking placement with a rescue partner.

Fireball Loves Pets: https://youtube.com/shorts/2iN2L71Om8I?feature=share

BEHAVIOR NOTES:
Per staff 5/25: I went to say hi to Fireball. Notably, every time I entered the supportive care room previously, he would vocalize at me for attention. When I came toward the kennel door, he continued to vocalize & came forward for pets. He stood still while I took some pictures, and then allowed me to pet him all over. He did attempt a few times to walk out of kennel, but was fine with me picking him up to move him back. Very sweet kitty!

Per staff 5/25: Was nuzzling my hand and allowing petting of his head, ears, and chin.

Per finder 5/25: Friendly, scared.

MEDICAL NOTES:
5/26 Vet Exam: Fireball is a very thin, 14-year-old cat with muscle wasting and a poor coat condition. He has dried diarrhea on his tail, sunken eyes, prolonged skin turgor, and ropey intestinal loops on palpation. He is missing some teeth and has moderate dental disease. He has a good appetite. Bloodwork shows a mild non-regenerative anemia, an elevated white blood cell count, elevated globulin, mildly elevated liver values, and a grey-zone thyroid level. He will need further testing to determine if he is truly hyperthyroid. If diarrhea continues, abdominal imaging is also recommended.

5/25 Triage Exam: BAR, eating and drinking well, but is underweight. Having foul-smelling diarrhea, though an in-house panleuktest was negative. In-house blood work revealed severe dehydration and other abnormalities. He received subcutaneous fluids and was prescribed dewormer, metronidazole, and FortiFlora.

5/25 Intake Exam: Body condition score 3 (thin). Mucous membranes pale and dry/tacky. Dehydrated (8–10%). Mildly painful. Eyes sunken.

Curry ACCT-A-31449 is currently considered urgent and at risk of euthanasia due to medical concerns. Curry must have confirmed placement with a RESCUE PARTNER by SATURDAY, MAY 30TH at 10AM. Should Curry's medical or behavioral status change, his urgency and timeline for placement may also change.

Curry has a history that actually begins at ACCT Philly — he first came through the shelter as a two-week-old bottle baby, went into foster care, and was adopted into a loving home once he was old enough. He spent nearly eight years with his owner and another cat, Peanut, before being surrendered on May 27th, when his owner's declining health made it increasingly difficult to care for them. Curry's owner described him as friendly and eager for attention. He would gently bump into and "tackle" people for affection, earning him the nickname "little football player." At the shelter, he can be nervous at first but warms up quickly with gentle handling, leaning into head pets and chin scratches. His owner noted bleeding from his hind end, and further evaluation showed bladder stones with a risk of urinary obstruction. He will need either a cystotomy with stone analysis or management with a dissolution diet. Due to his medical concerns, Curry is urgently seeking placement with a rescue partner.

VIDEOS:
Saying hi to Curry: https://youtube.com/shorts/2WdJ4hH5VDY?feature=share

BEHAVIOR NOTES:
Per staff 5/27: I went to say hi to Curry, and he was huddled in the back of his feral den out of fear. I began to pet him, and he allowed pets all over, even leaning somewhat into head pets & chin scritches. He did still seem nervous though, and would shift around & backwards during the pets. Sweet but nervous kitty!

Per staff 5/27: Nervous but very friendly.

Per owner surrender notes 5/27: Medium energy, enjoys independent play, playing with other cats and people, napping, zoomies, and hunting. Favorite toys include mouse toys, laser pointer, cardboard boxes, balls, cat hammocks, and catnip toys. Scratches on posts, cardboard, rope/sisal mats, and carpet. Fully litter trained, almost never has accidents. Uses a covered litter box with scented or fragrance-free clumping litter. Sleeps in a bed or blanket on the floor or in a separate room. Eats both dry and wet food, primarily Sheba Perfect Portions. Enjoys Temptations and Delectables treats. Responds to his name sometimes and to kissing/clicking sounds, as well as clapping with "let's go" when it's time to go downstairs. Reaction to strangers, children, and other cats depends on the situation. Has not been around dogs. A little bit interested in wildlife. His ideal home would be someplace he can look outside and soak up sun. Petting and love. Patience he likes to be petted and rub but he just keeps walking away and coming back. He loves boxes no matter the size. He loves toys on string.

Per owner 5/17: Curry is affectionate and newsy he will bump/tackle you. I call him "little football player". When petting him for some reason he keeps walking away or in circles and coming back.

MEDICAL NOTES:
5/27 Vet Exam: Curry came in with visible bleeding at the tip of his prepuce. His urinary bladder was soft and medium sized. He is overweight with a body condition score of 7-8/9. An abdominal x-ray identified three radiopaque bladder stones. Bloodwork showed a mildly elevated creatinine at 1.8, which may indicate mild kidney impairment or dehydration and all other values were normal. Curry was given antibiotics, fluids, and was started on pain medication. He was placed on a urinary diet. Curry needs a cystotomy with stone analysis or a stone dissolution diet. He is at risk of urinary obstruction.

Per staff 5/27: Owner stated Curry has been bleeding from his hind end. She stated she believes it's something stuck. Owner explained this has happened before previously but she is unable to assess it due to her health/age.

Buttons ACCT-A-247425 is currently considered urgent and at risk of euthanasia due to medical and behavioral concerns. Buttons must have confirmed placement with a RESCUE PARTNER by SATURDAY, MAY 30TH at 10AM. Should Buttons' medical or behavioral status change, her urgency and timeline for placement may also change.

Buttons is an approximately 8-year-old cat who came to ACCT Philly on April 11th as part of a multi-cat surrender following her owner's passing. The relative who brought Buttons in described her as very shy, prone to hiding, and most comfortable in calm environments. In the shelter, Buttons has remained fearful and guarded. She typically stays at the back of her kennel and hisses when approached. With patient, slow interaction she has shown small signs of engagement — a volunteer was able to spend extended time with her and get her playing with a wand toy, and she eventually stopped hissing during that session. Buttons would do best in a calm, quiet environment with someone who will give her time and space to decompress on her own terms. She recently developed what appears to be an ulcer on her left eye and has been too fearful to be fully examined or treated. Due to her medical and behavioral concerns, Buttons is urgently seeking placement with a rescue partner.

VIDEOS:
Meet Buttons 5/27: https://youtube.com/shorts/axMcxE2IH88?feature=share

BEHAVIOR NOTES:Per staff 5/27: Buttons was laying in the back of her kennel in her litter box and hissed when I opened up the kennel door. She swatted when I tried to reach in with the fake hand. When I touched her with her, her ears were back and she tried to bite the hand, then lip licked and moved to the other side of her kennel. With the kennel door shut, I reached the hand in through that side of the kennel, but did not try to touch her. She raised her paw but did not swat at it, then lip licked as I calmly talked to her.
Per staff 5/22: Went to meet Buttons for updated photos and videos, was hissing and spitting at staff from back of kennel.

Per volunteer 5/5: I spent some time with Buttons. She did play a little bit with a stick/feather toy. She liked both ends of it. Hopefully more volunteers help to break her out of her shell. She eventually stopped hissing at me and allowed me to get my whole upper body into her kennel and put my hands next to her. I got greedy though and came back later and when I went to pet her she did swipe at me but missed.
Per staff 5/5: Will hiss and lunge if you attempt to pet her.

Per staff 4/29: Button remained at the back of her kennel when staff approached. She displayed defensive behavior, including hissing, but did not attempt to lunge or swat. She maintained distance and appeared fearful but not actively aggressive.
Per staff 4/11: Very nervous.

Per owner surrender notes 4/11: This cat is very shy. Litter trained. Lived with male and female cats. Medium energy. Hides and is scared of strangers. Ideal home would be a calm environment with just her and maybe one other cat.
MEDICAL NOTES:5/27 Vet Note: Based on photo, concern for corneal ulcer OS or other ocular pathology.
5/8 and 5/9 Tech Note: Wouldn't let me give erythro due to hissing and spitting
5/7 Vet Exam: Squinting left eye. Mild ocular crusting discharge around left eye. Prescribed erythromycin eye ointment for 7 days.

4/12 Vet Exam: Mild dental disease, mild gingivitis.

4/11 Intake Exam: Right ear itchy. Possible bloody discharge from nose. Live fleas present on coat. Dental staining on all teeth. Gums pink and moist.

🆘MEDICALLY URGENT MAMA AND BABIES🆘

April Margera + 2
ACCT-A-251232

April is a 3-year-old mama who was brought into the shelter with her 6 kittens after she was found giving birth to them on the finder’s porch. She is such a sweet, caring mama, and despite nursing her kittens without complications, there are only two surviving. The shelter is not the place this fragile little family needs right now. They need quiet, comfort, and the dedicated care that a foster home or rescue can provide.

Per staff: “I said hi to April this morning and she was nursing when I opened the kennel door. She didn't mind, and leaned into pets for more. Such a good mama!”
She is nursing and staying devoted to the babies she has left, but has already endured so much loss. We urgently need a foster home or rescue to give them their freedom ride. All are panleuk negative and complete medical history is attached.

Blair ACCT-A-242462 is currently considered urgent and at risk of euthanasia due to behavioral concerns. Blair must have confirmed placement with an ADOPTER, experienced FOSTER or RESCUE PARTNER by FRIDAY, MAY 29TH at 10AM. Should Blair's medical or behavioral status change, his urgency and timeline for placement may also change.

Blair was one of 50 cats that came to ACCT after their owner passed away. In a house with that many cats, a person's ability to socialize each little personality is diminished, as essential care like food and water is prioritized. Blair is accustomed to the company of other cats and his person, but less so to being doted on. While we have seen marked improvements in his behavior, he still remains aloof, and occasionally reactive. Staff have noted that Blair communicates clearly when he feels uncomfortable and benefits greatly from patient, low-pressure interactions that allow him to feel safe and in control.

Since arriving at the shelter, Blair has slowly shown small but meaningful signs of progress. He has shown curiosity toward enrichment like wand toys and treats, and more recently has even begun hesitantly accepting gentle touch in exchange for wet treats. Staff also report that Blair spends much of his day quietly people-watching from the front of his kennel, showing interest in his surroundings while continuing to build confidence at his own pace.

Continuing to keep him in a kennel is inhibiting his progress. We would love to see this guy able to explore and enjoy his life on his terms, either with an understanding adopter, a foster experienced with socialization, or a rescue that can set him up for success. Blair is also available as a working cat, since he may not be interested in human companionship and might prefer a business relationship.

Blair has started to let hesitantly let me touch his butt in trade for wet treats!

4/8 Staff
Interested in wand toy, watches from a distance. As soon as I approached in kennel, ears back, tense posture and hissing. Disengaged to further not stress out.

2/11
A handsome gentleman who spends his day people watching from the safety of his kennel door. Seems semi interested in attention from people but started hissing when I opened kennel door. He let me give him a pet and politely hissed at me to stop. Tossed in some treats lifted his paw timidly and I left him alone.

Lola ACCT-A-246450 is currently considered urgent and at risk of euthanasia due to medical concerns. Lola must have confirmed placement with a committed ADOPTER, experienced FOSTER or RESCUE PARTNER by FRIDAY, MAY 29TH at 10AM. Should Lola's medical or behavioral status change, her urgency and timeline for placement may also change.

Lola is a very fancy senior cat who was surrendered to ACCT when her owner could not take her with them to a new residence. Lola has significant dental disease that will require dental cleaning and possible extractions. She needs to leave with either an adopter who can take on her dental issues, a foster who can facilitate this care offsite, or a rescue that can get Lola all set up for her next chapter.

Behaviorally, Lola is sensitive and cautious in the shelter environment. She often prefers to rest quietly in her space and may growl or avoid interaction when approached or stressed. However, she has also shown that with patience and gentle interaction, she can accept attention and even enjoy soft engagement once she feels safe. Since moving her to a larger cat-condo, Lola has opened up considerably, and has no issue expressing her demands of staff and passersby. She's remarkably chatty, very motivated by snacks, and seems to have broken out of her shell now that she has been given more space to roam.

5/22 Staff
Lola was observed napping comfortably in her kennel when staff approached. Upon opening the kennel door, she got up and came to the front to greet staff. Lola leaned into head scratches and began purring, appearing social, affectionate, and comfortable with interaction.

5/7 Staff
Pet Lola for just a quick second while I was in her area. She enjoyed it, meowed, and leaned in for more.

4/18 Staff
Lola is such a sweetheart. I’ve visited her with new cat volunteers a couple times now, since she’s such a great example of a cat who may seem like she prefers her personal space (always laying down on her shelf, in back of her cage) and doesn’t solicit much attention on her own - but who blossoms whenever you go to say hello. With a little coaxing and reassurance she’ll lean into pets, enjoy batting at a wand toy, and accept treats.

4/4 Staff
Resting loafed on shelf in kennel when I approached, tail tucked tight around body. Eyes were relaxed. Tossed in enrichment and she growled. Gave space.

3/31 Owner
She is affectionate towards anyone who feeds her. Anyone else, she is wary about.

Guinness ACCT-A-251321 is currently considered urgent and at risk of euthanasia due to medical concerns. Guinness must have confirmed placement with a RESCUE PARTNER by FRIDAY, MAY 29TH at 10AM. Should Guinness's medical or behavioral status change, his urgency and timeline for placement may also change.

Guinness is a five-week-old kitten who arrived at ACCT Philly as a stray on May 27th after being found with a broken leg. Despite her young age and discomfort, she has already shown a sweet, gentle nature. She can be a little nervous at first, but she has been tolerant and cooperative during her exam and other handling by staff. There are a few treatment options for her injured leg, including splinting, surgical repair, or amputation. With appropriate rescue placement and continued medical care, this tiny girl has every chance at a full and happy life. Due to her medical concerns, Guinness is urgently seeking placement with a rescue partner.

BEHAVIOR NOTES:
Per staff 5/27: Sweet baby. A little nervous, but tolerant of pets. Absolutely adorable!

Per staff 5/27: Painful. Initially fractious then became compliant.

MEDICAL NOTES:
5/27 Vet Exam: Guinness was limping on her right front leg and x-rays confirmed a right radial fracture. She has been prescribed pain management until rescue placement is secured.

Tig ACCT-A-251182 is currently considered urgent and at risk of euthanasia due to medical concerns. Tig must have confirmed placement with a RESCUE PARTNER by FRIDAY, MAY 29TH at 10AM. Should Tig's medical or behavioral status change, her urgency and timeline for placement may also change.

Tig is a 15-year-old domestic shorthair who was owner surrendered on May 26th after struggling with inappropriate elimination for two years despite multiple veterinary visits, antibiotic courses, and litterbox changes. Tig arrived with a matted, urine-stained coat and overgrown nails, but her spirit came through immediately — she's a total sweetheart who is happy to greet staff and soak up every bit of affection offered.

Unfortunately, Tig has several medical concerns, including elevated blood glucose and kidney values, urinary issues, ear infections, an upper respiratory infection, and dental disease. She has started treatment for her medical conditions and will require additional diagnostics, continued follow-up care, and a dental cleaning as she continues on the path toward feeling her best. Due to her medical concerns, Tig is urgently seeking placement with a rescue partner.

VIDEOS:
Meet Tig: https://youtube.com/shorts/L4ROHDqCtGM?feature=share

BEHAVIOR NOTES:
Per staff 5/27: Super sweet girl. Was on top of her den but jumped down as soon as I opened the kennel door and was trying to come out of the kennel. Allowed pets all over. Very hard to get a good picture or video because of how sweet she is!

Per staff 5/27: Very sweet.

Per owner surrender notes 5/26: Tig loves strangers and children. She is slow to interact with other cats and has not been around dogs.

MEDICAL NOTES:
5/27 Vet Exam: Tig has marked periodontal disease. Both ear canals are red, inflamed, and severely itchy with heavy brown debris. She has moderate watery discharge from both eyes and marked mucoid nasal discharge, consistent with an upper respiratory infection. Her coat is severely matted with flea dirt, her nails are overgrown, and she has urine scalding near her v***a. Skin turgor is prolonged, suggesting mild dehydration. She is suspected to be spayed based on undeveloped mammary glands.

Bloodwork showed elevated glucose at 387 (possible diabetes versus stress), elevated creatinine and BUN, and elevated total protein and globulins. A follow-up blood glucose spot check was 302. Abdominal x-rays showed no obvious bladder stones. A urine sample could not be collected and will be reattempted. Her bladder appeared small on ultrasound with no obvious stones. Her matted hair was shaved as much as she would tolerate and she was started on several medications. A urine collection kit was placed in the cage along with monitoring for appetite, vomiting, and elimination. She requires further workup to confirm diabetes, ongoing treatment, and eventually a dental cleaning under anesthesia.

5/26 Triage Exam: Coat matted with urine staining. Ears dirty and itchy. Dental staining, tartar, and missing incisors noted.

Per owner surrender notes 5/26: She sometimes urinates on the floor. She normally eats soft food and is missing teeth. She is still drinking water normally. Unsure if she is suffering. She is old and mostly sleeps.

Per staff conversation with owner 5/26: Cat is older and started peeing on the floor. Has been happening for about 2 years. Took to vet for this several times though 2 years for this and they gave antibiotics, changed litterboxes, etc, just still sometimes urinates on floor and sometimes in the litterbox.
