Obstetrics is the new EP from They Came From Hell (Philippe Ge**er and Chris Gilmore). It follows their previous release, ‘Osteotome’ and like ‘Osteotome’ the two-tracks feature sounds from their sample library, ‘Symphysiotomy’. The two-track release features one track from each of the composers. Obstetrics builds on the foundation of Osteotome, with each composer going darker, noisier and more fantastical with their tracks. Chris Gilmore’s track ‘Gas, Air, and Injection’ takes a dark melody and twists it into a creepy and sinister track. Midway through the track, the tension is momentarily lifted only to have all hope extinguished by the return of the dark melody and the more sinister elements heard earlier in the track. Philippe Ge**er’s track, ‘Ridge Spreader’, is a two minute and 39 second sonic nightmare. Taking you on a trip through your darkest and bleakest fears, ‘Ridge Spreader’ is a foreboding and relentless soundscape built upon a pulsing undercurrent, harsh and droning synths, and pounding drums.
