Head coach Bonnie Rosen, after graduating from the University of Virginia in 1992, was playing for the United States National Team and applying for physical therapy schools when a unique opportunity fell into her lap. Then-Yale head coach Amanda O’Leary wanted to hire Rosen as an assistant coach ahead of the 1995 season.
Rosen never considered coaching but took the job, eventually developing a passion for helping athletes both on and off the field.
Rosen made her way to Temple in 2007 and is now in her 20th season as head coach. She has guided the Owls to 12 winning seasons and created a family culture on the team. Rosen seized every chance presented to her, earning her multiple recognitions and finding success on the field throughout the years.
“If I could, I’d still be playing today,” Rosen said. “I love competing. I love playing sports. I love being with teammates on the field and off the field. I think that’s what keeps me going as a coach. It’s all the same things, except for thatone piece of playing. It’s just a very fortunate thing to be able to do this.”
Rosen’s goals have not changed after 20 seasons with Owls Head coach Bonnie Rosen is focused on helping her players develop on and off the field.

He was named South Carolina Gatorade Player of the Year as a junior and senior.

Temple was outshot by South Florida 39-21 its 13-7 loss in the American Conference tournament semifinals Thursday night.
The Owls were competitive early on as goalkeeper Riley Horoshko denied the Bulls’ first five shots of the game. But USF took charge from there, launching five consecutive goals to take a 5-0 lead entering the second quarter. Temple attacker Amelia Wright broke the ice, scoring 35 seconds into the frame. The Bulls quickly responded, however, outscoring the Owls 3-1 for an 8-2 halftime lead.
Owls attacker Lexi Culp tried to anchor a comeback, recording the first goal of the second half. However, USF continued to pester Horoshko with three more goals as it led 11-3 entering the final quarter. Temple tried to save its season, outscoring USF 4-2 in the frame, with two of them coming from attacker Kali Saito. It was too little too late as the Owls could not rally.
Temple’s season has ended, now having lost in the first round of the American tournament in its last three postseason appearances.

This year, The Temple News covered a series of monumental moments from June to April, each carrying its own weight and story.
The Photo desk began with the No Kings protest on June 14, 2025—its first photo story of the year, capturing the largest protest the city had seen in some time, held on Donald Trump’s birthday. Not long after came its first-ever Live in Philly: Baldfest and the rest is history.
As the year goes on, these stories remain—not just as moments captured, but as pieces of a community that The Temple News was there to witness, document and remember.
