Today, I was recognized with the “Unsung Hero” award by the Center for Teaching, Learning, and Mentoring at .

It’s an honor to be thought of as someone who provides support, mentoring, advising, and a space for students to engage and explore learning in unique, and sometimes invisible or “unsung” ways. The quotes from two of my students really hit home.

Thankful to be recognized as a 2026 “Knights at Work” honoree during this year’s Alumni Weekend awards ceremony at . When I first arrived here 15 years ago as a grad student, I had no clue how much this institution was going to be so influential in my career and life. But I always believed in AU, and I’m glad they believe in me too.

Thank you to for having me speak on “The Art of Stage Presence” along with & today! We had a great discussion dropping 💎s for the next generation on how we prepare to perform on stage and captivate audiences as MCs. 🗣️🎤💯

I’m incredibly proud of this year’s cohort of “Rhythm & Culture” students at , my study abroad course to London centered on community & the creative arts!

This was a great group of students and I’m excited to see what they’ll continue to do in their respective academic journeys!

I’ve had a lot of fun the past few weeks with with my friends & leading two watch parties for the mission and joining for some stargazing in Independence Mall 🚀🌌🔭🪐

Day 4 remembered artists (Handel, Hendrix, and Winehouse) who’ve passed on and how the community continues to champion their memory. Our students really enjoyed and visiting for the day!

Day 3 concluded with graciously hosting us at ! 🔊 He discussed the value and global connectivity that is fostered through the DJ and radio community. Our students also got to learn how to mix on a pro console! 🎵🎧

Day 3 was centered by who spoke with our students about speaking your truth publicly and the value of the Brick Lane community in supporting independent artists, poets, and creatives. We were also joined by the phenomenal who was kind enough to hang out and share her story and creative journey!

Day 3 kicked off with and learning about the extensive history of graffiti and street art culture in the community. Our guide, John, was incredibly knowledgeable and showed our students a wide variety of artists and styles! 🎨📍

Day 2 was an incredible day in Brixton! 🔊 Our students got to visit and learn why it’s an integral part of the community, learned about the impact of and his legacy, met with , discussed the impact of gentrification on the local scene, toured the streets to see legendary work of , and enjoyed a delicious lunch at .village!
