Today, I was recognized with the “Unsung Hero” award by the Center for Teaching, Learning, and Mentoring at .
It’s an honor to be thought of as someone who provides support, mentoring, advising, and a space for students to engage and explore learning in unique, and sometimes invisible or “unsung” ways. The quotes from two of my students really hit home.

Thankful to be recognized as a 2026 “Knights at Work” honoree during this year’s Alumni Weekend awards ceremony at . When I first arrived here 15 years ago as a grad student, I had no clue how much this institution was going to be so influential in my career and life. But I always believed in AU, and I’m glad they believe in me too.

Day 4 remembered artists (Handel, Hendrix, and Winehouse) who’ve passed on and how the community continues to champion their memory. Our students really enjoyed and visiting for the day!

Day 3 was centered by who spoke with our students about speaking your truth publicly and the value of the Brick Lane community in supporting independent artists, poets, and creatives. We were also joined by the phenomenal who was kind enough to hang out and share her story and creative journey!

Day 3 kicked off with and learning about the extensive history of graffiti and street art culture in the community. Our guide, John, was incredibly knowledgeable and showed our students a wide variety of artists and styles! 🎨📍
