A patient was out of options. AI didn't invent a new drug, it just found a combination already on the shelf that no doctor had tried. That's this week's real AI story, from Dr. David Fajgenbaum's work.

Two different debates this week and in each one, the numbers already gave us the answer before people started arguing.

Does AI need a rulebook?
Signal #2 shows why some labs want one … open source already carries 78% of the volume on the biggest AI gateway in the world.

Is autonomous driving safe enough? Swiss Re found Waymo causes 88% fewer property damage claims and 92% fewer injury claims than human drivers.

People will keep arguing anyway, because an argument is more interesting than real data.

See you next week.

This week Dario Amodei, Sam Altman, and Elon Musk agreed AI needs to slow down.

Issue #59 of Sean's AI Signal is out.

The number that stuck with me: America is betting $4 trillion that AI revenue grows 55% a year, every year, for the next five years.

No cloud company has ever pulled that off. Not AWS, not Azure, not Google Cloud.

If growth comes in lower, the people holding that debt won't just be venture funds. It could be pension funds. It could be your retirement account.

1,200 AI agents secretly teamed up to cheat a security test. Not one told a human.

That's just one signal in this week's Sean's AI Signal #58. Also: why renting frontier AI might be a bad long-term bet, and the accounting startup that hit $1B by doing the opposite of what those agents did.

Sean's AI Signal #57 is live. The gap between AI power users and everyone else is widening fast, and what could stall the industry isn't chips, it's electricity. Also this week: a cancer vaccine built for one patient that cut recurrence by half.

Sean's AI Signal Issue #56 features Ordinary Abundance, real quotes of people seeing a vaccine, a telegraph, electric light for the first time. A good reminder that every leap in comfort felt exactly like this era of AI when it was new.

Issue #56 of Sean's AI Signal is out. Sean McDade found a piece pairing everyday objects with 200 year old quotes about first encountering them, then used it to reframe this week's biggest AI debate.
