On this day in 2004, Kanye West released his groundbreaking debut album The College Dropout 🧸 — a project that changed the sound and direction of hip-hop forever.
Before the Grammys, before billion-dollar brands, before stadium tours… Ye was a producer fighting to be taken seriously as a rapper. In a rare 2002 interview with Complex, he made it clear his mind was already made up:
“It was just focus. I decided I want to do this.”
That focus paid off. The College Dropout debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200, sold 441,000 first-week copies, and went on to become 4× Platinum. The album gave us timeless records like “Through The Wire,” “All Falls Down,” and “Slow Jamz” — songs that still define Kanye’s legacy and early soul-sampling era.
From backpack rap to mainstream takeover, this album proved Kanye West wasn’t just a producer… he was a superstar in the making.
Is The College Dropout your favorite Kanye album? 👀🎤

Today we honor Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., a man whose words and actions continue to ripple through our culture, music, and communities. MLK’s dream was more than about hope. It was about movement, resistance, and the relentless pursuit of justice.
His legacy inspires us to reflect on the progress we can achieve together and the values he championed: equality, compassion, and understanding. Today, we remember his leadership, celebrate his life, and honor the enduring impact of his work on the world.
