According to Sidney Bechet's biographer John Chilton, he made regular visits to Philly in 1946 and 1947 for a promoter named Sammy Price. In 1949 and 1950 he had a residency at the Swing Rendezvous in the Hotel Senator. Looks like it was a favored destination!
