What a way to close out Jazz at Girard College ! Thank you to everyone who joined us on August 9 for the final performance of our summer jazz series. We had an incredible crowd and were especially proud to have our Girard College jazz students take the stage and showcase their talents before Isaiah Weatherspoon (Isaiah Weatherspoon) and his band closed out the afternoon.

From our student musicians to our featured performers and everyone who came out to enjoy the music, thank you for making Jazz at Girard such a special summer experience. We loved welcoming you to campus and can’t wait to do it again!

Thank you to everyone who joined us this past Sunday for another wonderful afternoon of Jazz at Girard College ! It was great to see families, friends, neighbors, and music lovers come together to enjoy live jazz on our historic campus. Your energy and support continue to make this summer series so special.

If you missed this weekend’s performance, don’t worry! Our final Jazz at Girard College concert is happening this Sunday (8/9) from 4:00–6:00 PM. Bring your lawn chairs, blankets, and friends for one last afternoon of great music and community. We can’t wait to see you there!

Congratulations to our Girard College students on successfully completing the Wills Eye Hospital Internship Program! These students gained valuable hands-on experience, explored careers in healthcare, and developed skills that will serve them well in their future academic and professional journeys.

Thank you to everyone who joined us this past Sunday for a wonderful afternoon of Jazz at Girard College ! We were honored to welcome Nasir Dickerson , whose incredible performance on the saxophone and a traditional instrument from his travels in Africa created an unforgettable experience. From getting the crowd on their feet dancing to weaving through the audience as he performed, Nasir brought energy, joy, and connection that filled our historic campus.

Girard College extends our heartfelt condolences to the family, friends, colleagues, and loved ones of Cannie Shafer, who served our community as Lower School Academic Dean.

Cannie brought the wisdom, warmth, and dedication of a 47-year career in education to Girard. She believed deeply that beginnings matter most and that every child deserves a strong, supported start in their learning journey.

Her care for students, commitment to education, and humanity left a meaningful impact on our community. We are grateful for her service and the legacy she leaves behind.
