Grays Ferry, Philadelphia — Our hearts are heavy today as we process the devastating news of the structural collapse at the CHOP garage construction site on Grays Ferry Avenue. On behalf of the Tasker Morris Neighborhood Association, we extend our deepest prayers and condolences to the family of the worker we lost today, and we hold out hope for the safe recovery of the two individuals still missing.

As a coordinating Registered Community Organization (RCO), we have spent months engaged in the development process for this site. Our primary focus has always been the safety, health, and well-being of the residents who live in the shadow of this by-right project.

We are supportive of the immediate, transparent, and exhaustive investigation into the cause of this collapse. Our community deserves to know how this happened and why the safety protocols failed so catastrophically. We will be working closely with city officials and the Department of Licenses and Inspections to ensure that the site is fully secured and that no further risk is posed to our neighbors.

Right now, our priority is the rescue effort and supporting the families affected. We ask all residents to avoid the area of 3400 Grays Ferry Avenue to allow emergency crews to do their vital work.

I want to take this time to give thanks to our team, for taking lead in the negotiations, with Children Hospital to bring over 250,000 in funding to our community.. we believe that the relationship with chop will benefit our community tremendously.. .. there's going to be a whole bunch of program this summer, at the playground.. our next community meeting will be held on the 21st join us learn more about our successes, and how you could be part of a great team.. .. . ..
