Panel explores the roots of social mobility, guaranteed income and financial coaching 06/12/2026

Philadelphia is having a conversation about economic mobility - and it’s about time.

Last week, leaders gathered at the Xiente Prosperity Breakfast to ask the hard questions: What does it take to move a family from survival to stability to opportunity? What role do guaranteed income, affordable housing, and financial coaching really play? And who needs to be at the table to make it happen?

WHYY’s Carmen Munir Russell-Sluchansky was in the room and he captured the story beautifully. We are so grateful for his coverage and for WHYY’s commitment to telling Philadelphia’s stories.

On June 4th, Xiente hosted our Prosperity Breakfast and Philadelphia showed up.

120 leaders from across the city’s corporate, philanthropic, nonprofit, and civic sectors gathered at Billy Penn Studios for one honest conversation: What does it truly take to move families from stability to mobility?

Not just in theory. In practice.

Our moderator, Sarah Glover of WHYY, guided a panel of practitioners who have been doing this work on the ground - Félix Quiñones (Xiente), Soneyet Muhammad (Episcopal Community Services), Olivia Montana (South Hills Interfaith Movement), and Brendan Perry (Catholic Charities Fort Worth).

What we heard stayed with us:

→ Stability and mobility are not the same thing. Too many systems are designed to keep families afloat - not to move them forward.
→ Coaching is not case management. Long-term mobility requires a fundamentally different relationship between organizations and the families they serve.
→ No single program, sector, or organization gets families to economic mobility alone. It takes alignment and it takes everyone at the table.

The morning was made possible by our Prosperity Innovation Investor, Truist Financial, whose commitment to economic mobility and community investment brought this vision to life.

For 40+ years, Xiente has been disrupting intergenerational poverty in North Philadelphia, connecting families to housing, education, workforce development, and financial coaching. The Prosperity Breakfast Series exists to bring the leaders who can accelerate that work into the same room.

This was just the beginning.

This is what it looks like when the right people come to the same table.

Thank you to every leader, partner, and advocate who joined us at the Xiente Prosperity Breakfast on June 4th. Your presence made the conversation richer, the questions sharper, and the morning unforgettable.

120 guests. One room. One question: What does it truly take to move families from stability to mobility?

The answers we heard and the connections made over breakfast are exactly why we built this series. Economic mobility is not built by one organization or one sector alone. It is built when the right people decide to work together.

You showed up. That matters.

The Prosperity Breakfast Series continues. We hope to see you at the next one.

The conversation that happened in that room on June 4th didn't happen by accident. It happened because five extraordinary people showed up ready to go beyond the talking points.

A heartfelt thank you to our moderator and panelists:

🎙 Sarah Glover - VP of News & Civic Dialogue, WHYY | Moderator
🎙 Félix Quiñones - Interim CEO, Xiente
🎙 Soneyet Muhammad - Chief Program Officer, Episcopal Community Services
🎙 Olivia Montana - Mobility Mentoring Specialist, South Hills Interfaith Movement
🎙 Brendan Perry - Director of Padua National, Catholic Charities Fort Worth

You challenged a room full of Philadelphia's leaders to think differently about what economic mobility actually requires, not just programs, but systems, coaching, and a long-term commitment to families.

We are so grateful for your time, your expertise, and your willingness to be part of this conversation.

The Prosperity Breakfast Series continues. Stay tuned. 🙏

The Xiente Prosperity Breakfast happened because someone believed in this work before the room was even full.

Thank you, Truist Financial — our Prosperity Innovation Investor — for making June 4th possible. And thank you, Jeremy Ben-Zev, for showing up in person and for investing in Philadelphia's families.

This is what partnership looks like. 🙏

Philadelphia is about to have a conversation that matters — and we’re bringing national voices to the table.

Xiente is proud to announce the expert panel for our inaugural Prosperity Breakfast Series:

🎤 Félix Quiñones — Interim CEO, Xiente
🎤 Olivia Montana — Mobility Mentoring Specialist, South Hills Interfaith Movement (Pittsburgh, PA)
🎤 Soneyet Muhammad — Chief Programs Officer, Episcopal Community Services (Philadelphia, PA)
🎤 Brendan Perry — Director of Padua National, Catholic Charities Fort Worth (Fort Worth, TX)

Moderated by Sarah Glover — VP of News & Civic Dialogue, WHYY

On June 4th, this group will tackle one central question: What does it truly take to move a family from stability to long-term opportunity?

From Pittsburgh to Fort Worth to Philadelphia — these are practitioners who are doing the work, scaling what works, and challenging what doesn’t. The conversation will be honest, data-driven, and cross-sector.

The Xiente Prosperity Breakfast Series is an invitation-only gathering of Philadelphia’s corporate, philanthropic, and civic leaders.

If you received an invitation and haven’t registered yet — your seat is still waiting. RSVP deadline is May 24th.
Presented with support from Truist Financial.

We are incredibly grateful to Lieutenant Governor Austin Davis, Representative Jose Giral, Representative Danilo Burgos, Senator Christine Tartaglione, and Councilwoman Quetcy Lozada for their support in securing a $500,000 investment to expand Xiente’s Teen Center workforce development programming.
This investment is more than funding — it is an investment in prevention, opportunity, and the future of our young people.

At Xiente, we believe workforce development is a powerful anti-violence strategy. When youth have access to mentorship, career exposure, paid opportunities, and pathways toward economic mobility, we are helping create safer communities and stronger futures.

Through this initiative, we will continue supporting teens with the tools, guidance, and opportunities they need to build confidence, develop skills, and envision futures beyond the barriers they may face today.

Thank you for believing in our youth and for continuing to invest in programs that create real pathways to opportunity across our communities.
