Application of Systems Thinking in Community Nutrition Education was created by PA NEN and inspired by feedback from SNAP-Ed staff members for more trainings on Policy, Systems, and Environmental Change (PSE) in-action in Pennsylvania. Systems thinking is an approach that acknowledges how a variety of factors and interactions contribute to health. Using a systems thinking lens, nutrition educators can strengthen their understanding of how policies and the built environment impact their work. This training is geared toward SNAP-Ed staff members, community nutrition educators, RDs, community health workers, and other public health professionals.

CPEUs: "Application of Systems Thinking for Community Nutrition Educators" awards 4.00 CPEUs in accordance with the Commission on Dietetic Registration’s CPEU Prior Approval Program.

Save the Date: The 2026 PA NEN Annual Conference will be held on April 23rd, 2026 in State College, PA.

PA NEN’s annual conference brings together over 200 nutrition educators, administrators, policy-makers, and food security advocates to share best practices, lessons learned, and emerging interventions in public health and nutrition. Our goal is to enhance nutrition programming and implementation in Pennsylvania through presentations, networking, and collaboration.

PA NEN is excited to announce the PA SNAP-Ed Partner Highlights training! Tune in to learn more about the SNAP-Ed programming that exists across the state - from early childhood settings, K-12 schools, food retail, food assistance, and other community settings. This self-paced online module will guide you through each of the 22 PA SNAP-Ed partners, an overview of their programming, how they collaborate with other providers across the state, and best practices and lessons learned from implementing their SNAP-Ed work.
