🥇 1ST PLACE ANNOUNCEMENT! 🥇

Congratulations to Allison, age 8, for winning 1st Place in AltruVision's first ever Butterflies of Hope Art Contest!

Allison's piece brought tears to not only our eyes but our judges as well! They shared: "When we heard her story and that she was only 8 years old, to incorporate the heart because her friend passed away from a heart condition, to the glasses 'because her friend wore glasses' really moved us. Allison put a lot of thought behind her submission. It incorporates every aspect of AltruVision's mission, story, and intent in an art piece which makes it so compelling. It's visually appealing and as an added element, it incorporates not just the artist's story, but her family's story as well."

This piece reminds us that the selfless decision to say YES to donation has positive impacts across a community, not just the recipients.

Thank you to Allison for creating this masterpiece, for allowing us to share it with the world and for spreading hope, joy and heart into every step she takes!

This piece will be featured on a number of AltruVision merchandise which can be found on our NEW ALTRUVISION BUTTERFLIES OF HOPE ART SHOP altruvision.printful.me

A very special thank you to everyone who participated in this contest! We look forward to seeing your submissions next year!

📢 Put your hands together for artist Mikaela, age 14, for WINNING 2ND PLACE in AltruVision's first ever Butterflies of Hope Art Contest! 👏

The judges could not get enough of this piece, stating "The degradation of such vibrant colors flows very well, is engaging and reminds us of stained glass. What comes through the most though is the sense of motion!" 🦋

Artist Mikaela joins us from Overbrook School for the Blind which prepares their students—all of whom are blind, visually impaired or living with other challenges—to have the greatest opportunity to experience active and fulfilling lives.

📣 EXCITING NEWS!! 📣

Join us in congratulating our young artist, Kacey, age 12, for winning 3RD PLACE in AltruVision's first ever Butterflies of Hope Art Contest!

With over 60 submissions, the competition was tough! Like us, the judges loved this piece; sharing "Artistically it is very original. The closer you get, the more engaged you are. It represents how someone that’s visually impaired might see a butterfly. The transformation and the colors are her – what she has done with her life after her transplant – she is the transformation." 🦋

When Kacey was born, her parents, Kristin and Kenny, noticed something different about her eyes. Upon further examination at Wills Eye Hospital, it was determined that Kacey was born with a rare eye disease called Peters Anomaly. At only four months old, thanks to AltruVision's Gratis Tissue Program and Dr. Christopher Rapuano, MD, Kacey received a corneal transplant in each eye.

CONGRATULATIONS, KACEY! We are so proud of you! 🎨🎉

Isabella “Bella” Rose lit up the world with her love, laughter, and passion for dance. Bella's mother, Amanda Gonzalez, says she embraced life with every fiber of her being. Tragically, in June of 2022, Bella passed away in her home after she collapsed while dancing.
The Gonzalez family discovered she had been living with Arrhythmogenic Right Ventricular Cardiomyopathy (ARVC), a condition that escalates the risk of sudden death due to irregular heart rhythms, particularly during physical activity. This prompted genetic testing for all family members, revealing that Bella’s older brother, Xavier, also shared a similar heart condition. “Without Bella, this condition may have remained undetected until it was too late. Bella saved her brother’s life.”
Bella's altruism extended beyond her passing – she became a donor and gave the healing gift of sight to a teacher. “Honoring Bella by giving others a reason to smile and keep faith has truly kept our family going. Our dancing butterfly is a hero, miracle worker, and angel in the most literal sense of the word. She will forever be loved, cherished, and honored for many lifetimes to come.” 💙💚 Thank you to AltruVision and Bella’s family for sharing this story with us!

It's Volunteer Appreciation Week! We are incredibly grateful to all of our AMAZING volunteers! 🥰

AltruVision invites you to join us for a Remembrance Butterfly Workshop. On the last Friday of every month, we bring together volunteer groups to handcraft clay butterflies that are sent to donor families. These workshops offer a meaningful way to honor or celebrate loved ones, with butterflies symbolizing donation, transformation, new beginnings, and hope. 🦋🦋
