🍼🐾 Join ACCT Philly for our Kitten Kindergarten: Kitten Shower & Training Day and learn practical, lifesaving skills that help kittens and community cats right here in Philadelphia.

You’ll learn:
🐱 What to do (and what NOT to do) when you find kittens outdoors
🍼 Bottle-feeding and foster care basics
🏠 How fostering saves lives
🐾 Kitten behavior and medical basics
🐈 Community cat support, including SNR/TNR programs
❤️ Simple ways to help, even if you don’t have time to foster

Whether you’re interested in fostering, volunteering, helping cats in your neighborhood, or just want to be prepared when someone calls you about a kitten, there’s something for everyone.

Right now the shelter is full and we have many dogs and cats waiting 🐶🐱 both at the shelter and in foster care for loving families.

We are so happy to see so many of our animals find loving homes during the past 17 days as part of the BISSELL Pet Foundation’s event! From May 1st-17th , 118 dogs and 201 cats were adopted! 🐶🐱 🥰

This past weekend, our friends at Philadoptables held their bi-annual clean up day at the shelter 🧹🌿🐾 Volunteers built six outdoor benches 🪑, moved existing seating, installed fence screens for the play yards 🐶, helped with laundry 🧺, assisted with cat transport set up 🚐🐱, and tackled outdoor clean up projects including w**d whacking and landscaping 🌱🌸🌳

Not only that, ACCT Philly was fortunate enough to receive a $15,000 donation to help build our new play yards 🐶🎾, turning the project into a reality for the dogs in our care 🐕🐾❤️ Philadoptables has been supporting ACCT Philly and area rescues for years (15 years to be exact! 🎉👏), from providing financial support to rescues for animals in need 🐾🏡 and helping pet owners keep their pets instead of being forced to surrender them 🐕🐈💞, to contributing to projects at ACCT like the play yards and previously our cat adoption room renovation 🐱🏠✨, as well as providing much needed items like a syringe pump 🩺🐾 and other important medical equipment 🏥💉.

We’re so grateful for their continued support 🙏💙 and for the time, energy, and heart they put into the community 🫶🌎, the animals 🐶🐱, and helping us here at ACCT Philly every step of the way 🏡✨

Recently, we officially unveiled our big dog yard, made entirely possible by a generous grant from VCA Charities. Their grant enables us to have a large yard we can use year round, easily disinfect and safely use to exercise our dogs in playgroups so more dogs can get outside everyday! 🌿

Not only that, but we launched our new Philly Pupventures program, also made possible by generous financial support and training through VCA Charities and their Dog Day Out initiative. Pupventures are an easy way for community volunteers to give dogs a much-needed break from the shelter while connecting them with potential adopters out in the community 🐕

On average, dogs in shelters spend 23 hours a day in their kennels. Programs like Philly Pupventures provide critical mental and physical relief and studies show short outings and temporary foster placement of dogs result in dogs being 5–14 times more likely to be adopted!

With more than 8,000 dogs expected to come through our doors this year, programs like this make a real impact, and with your help we can reach our goal to hit 250 Philly Pupventures by July 4th to celebrate America’s 250th, and many more beyond that!

Benson and Barbella are just two Jedi’s in training over here at ACCT 🐶🌌 They are still waiting for someone to finally pick them as their sidekick and we’re starting to think the Force needs a little push 💫

Both are sweet, a little goofy 🤪, and more than ready to trade in kennel life for a couch 🛋️ (or at least a soft bed). They’ll join you for walks 🚶‍♀️, hang out for movie nights 🍿, and keep a close eye on your snacks 👀 like true professionals.
