New Episode of Neglected Stories: People, History, Movements
Tune in this Saturday, March 15, from 10-11 AM on Germantown Community Radio, 92.9 FM and www.gtownradio.com, for an urgent conversation about the fate of the Community Reinvestment Act (CRA).
Host Pedro Rodriguez sits down with Jimmy Duran, executive director of Vincent Homes in Germantown, to discuss the history and impact of the CRA—a law designed to prevent redlining and ensure banks invest in working-class communities and communities of color. For decades, the CRA has helped bring housing, business opportunities, and economic stability to neighborhoods that banks once ignored. More than $2 trillion dollars have been invested via the CRA in low and moderate income communities since 1992, according to the National Community Reinvestment Coalition. But now, under the Trump Administration, efforts are underway to weaken or even erase this critical legislation.
What does this mean for Philadelphia? How will it affect struggling communities across the country? And what can be done to fight back?
