Last month, the held our annual Grad Mixer as a welcome to new and returning University of Pennsylvania graduate students in related departments like Anthropology, AAMW, Classics, Ancient History, Religious Studies, Historic Preservation, and so many more.
This event gives students the opportunity to meet one another, chat across departments, get to know the Academic Engagement staff, and feel welcome in the Museum!
They even had the chance to vote on the "Penn in the Field" Student Photography project, an annual Penn Museum Graduate Advisory Council (PMGAC), Academic Engagement, and Museum Library collaboration.

👻 Get ready for with Monsters, Myths, and Legends, a guided tour of vampires, werewolves, sea monsters, and other mythic beasts that tiptoe the line between fear and fascination.
Alongside your seasoned guide touring you through the strange and sublime, you’ll dig deeper into the meaning of monsters: what they protected, what they punished, and what they revealed about the cultures that imagined them.

Don’t miss this early look at a 4,300-year-old architectural marvel that you’ll be able to enter in the reimagined Egypt Galleries: Life and Afterlife, opening December 12!
🤩 On Oct. 7, Dr. Jennifer Houser Wegner, curator of the new Egypt Galleries will guide through a virtual exploration of the Tomb Chapel of Kaipure.
During our first "Artifacts in Action" virtual lecture, we will examine the chapel in its archaeological and historical context, including its journey from ancient Egypt to the Penn Museum.
Excavated more than a century ago at Saqqara, an ancient cemetery site near modern Cairo, the chapel will be on view in its entirety for the first time in 30 years in the reimagined Egypt Galleries!
With the ability to deep zoom in and virtually explore the monument up close with an expert guide, you’ll gain a whole new way of experiencing artifacts, distinct from your view on the gallery floor!
