Let's Read Math
HAVE FUN WITH MATH! Read children's books and do fun math activities. For kids in grades K-5 in schoo
Let's Read Math is about reading children's story books and doing related math activities. Math topics and methods are drawn from the national math standards. This is a serious attempt to build positive attitudes about math, in both children and their parents. Let's Read Math lessons include engaging activities that are interactive, hands-on, and FUN.

At St Malachy's summer program, we read "One is a Snail" with kids in grades K-3. After doing some ALGEBRAIC THINKING, everyone made crab puppets to practice counting by tens. Did you know that all crabs have TEN legs? (2 claws, 2 "swimmies" at the back, and 6 legs for walking sideways)!
OST...Whether you see kids in summer or at after-school centers, it's a great time to get to know them. Have fun!
Last week the summer school staff at St Malachy met to plan Let's Read Math lessons they are going to do with kids in grades K-5. It's time to HAVE FUN WITH MATH! I can't wait to see some pictures!

This week I met new Philadelphia friends associated with the PCHP (The Parent - Child Home Program). PCHP home visitors help parents have fun with their toddlers...reading books and playing with educational toys. Here we are investigating how to have fun with found materials. I had plastic discs and made a quilt design!

Here are two of my favorite tangram books. Both books tell a story that is illustrated with tangram pictures1
Dakota and her Mom wrote to Let’s Read Math because they love to play with tangrams. Dakota asked if I could share this website with you. Thanks, Dakota! Hope everyone has FUN WITH TANGRAMS!
