I can’t overstate the peace of mind that comes with qualifying for another year of -AFTRA health insurance for my family. Since you need to re-qualify each and every year, it’s never something you can take for granted. Who knows what 2020 will bring, but as 2019 winds down, I am feeling very fortunate.

We Skype weekly and see each other at our monthly Philly VO meetups, but spending 4 days together each year with my good friend and talented colleague at is always a personal highlight for me. Another great conference is now in the books.

Todays mobile recording studio - aka “The VO Pillow Fort.” Since VoiceOver auditions and client projects still have to get done - and still sound great - even when you’re at a conference like , you need to be real creative with whatever’s available in your hotel room.

Sad to leave my favorite new piece of studio gear behind, but I’m taking the on the road today. Next stop... !

New Year…New Gear!
After eyeing these BeyerDynamic DT 770 Pro headphones for the last few months, I saw a great deal on Amazon and finally pulled the trigger.

I gotta say, compared to my old Sony MDR-V6 cans, I immediately noticed a HUGE difference in both comfort (Soooo Soft!), and more importantly, in accuracy - essential for ensuring quality control on auditions and projects recorded in my home studio. The box says “The Studio Legend.” First impression, I agree.

With the voiceover landscape only growing more competitive every day, simply having “a great voice” isn't nearly enough to build or sustain a career. Besides regularly working with the top VO coaches in the industry, I’m always looking to think outside the booth for new ways to stay sharp and hone my craft.

After wrapping up a fantastic 3 month Improv class, now it’s back to The Actors Lab Philly for ongoing TV/Film acting classes each week. I’ve found that doing regular scene work and on-camera auditions in class gives me a whole different creative perspective and really helps me step up the quality of my reads back in the booth.
