We are a 12 step oriented program. We have housing for both men and women who are in need of a safe place to live with the support and guidance of a recovery program. We are the best in the city of Philadelphia. We have several locations.

Since loosing the founder of The First Step To Recovery we have struggled. We put the houses up for sale and with Gods help someone has bought them all. They will no longer be recovery houses but I am looking forward to the change. I just want to thank everyone who supported us in the past 15 years and I wish you all continued sobriety. Everyone who had past through our doors and met Mr Gallagher be thankful that you had that opportunity to meet such a wonderful and sympathetic person who understood our day to day struggles with addiction. I know I have no idea where I would be today if I did not have the helping hand of John Gallagher who I called my best friend and partner in crime...LOL I love him and miss him every minute of every day and would give the world to have him back with me for even just one moment of time. So to all of you who walked with us, Thank You and good luck to you and God Bless!

Dianne Grow-Comly now owns and runs the First Step and we now have a couples house and a womens recovery house both on Church Street. Sorry men no more housing for you guys but keep a look out there maybe a place for you in the future.
We lost the original owner and founder of The First Step To Recovery on March 28, 2013
John Joseph Gallagher lost his fight with cancer. He will be missed. Please say a prayer for Mr. Gallagher. He helped so many people we know he went straight to heaven.
