Last Saturday Stay True had a poetry workshop with Queen Fierce aka Céshia from New Philly Voices. She taught us about acrostic poetry and this is a piece we created as a group. “Never Say You Can't.”

In our discussions, we spoke about the importance of writing as a tool to amplify one's voice and the power of this medium of communication to express our thoughts and feelings with oursevles and others. Thank you so much for joining us and bringing your big energy to our afternoon zoomtown.

Stay True is committed to amplifying the voices of and inspiring the youth most impacted by systems of oppression in Philadelphia. We provide a brave space for students to navigate and address systemic issues. By promoting self-determination through lived experiences, we help our students realize their innate abilities and positions of power to effect change in their communities.

With the city of Philadelphia implementing new restrictions, we need to remember that although we may be physically distant, we must not be socially distant. The support of our communities is needed now more than ever. The students that make up Stay True are reaching across neighborhoods and connecting with folx to ensure the prosperity and health of our communities. This work cannot stop.

As the holiday season and Giving Tuesday are fast approaching, we are asking you - our supporters - to aid Philadelphia's youth in their monumental work. With your support, we can continue to provide Philly teens with the space and resources needed to effect lasting change in our communities.

Let's leave 2020 stronger, and let us enter 2021 with the momentum and courage to build a future centered on equity. Stay True is committed to inspiring and empowering Philadelphia’s most socioeconomically impacted youth by providing them with the resources that they need to address the problems they see facing their communities. Stay True students have the opportunity to develop knowledge, skills, and confidence to become the leaders that their communities need.
